of Miracles 40 years ago, the Sheridan House Boys Program had already been running for ten years.

Since growing boys eat so Publix and Trader Joe’s graciously donate to us every day for our moms! much, the ministry needed help affording all that food! Thankfully, the only Publix in Hollywood started giving Sheridan House donations, so once a week after dropping the boys off at school, the staff went to pick up groceries.

Two single moms heard about this free food and asked Bob Barnes if he had any extras they could have for their children.

He gave what leftovers he had but felt a bit worried since this food was for all the Sheridan House boys! Word got out that the ministry was providing food to single moms, and the house parents and leadership realized that over 80% of the boys in the program had no dads in the picture and were being raised only by their moms. The staff wasn’t sure how there would be enough donations to help them all, but God knew. Not long after this, a second Publix contacted Sheridan House and said they had food contributions to give if someone would come pick them up. God’s provision was abundant and clear!

One day a House Pop carried a box of groceries out to a single mom’s car, but she said to leave it on the ground. She was waiting for a ride since her car had been repossessed. With a voice full of doubting hope she asked, “Does Sheridan House ever get donated cars?” He had to answer no because people never donated cars! But God. He has incredible timing as that afternoon a hospital administrator called Sheridan House to explain that he’d bought a new car. He wanted to donate his old one, and wondered if we served anyone who needed a vehicle!

This woman was able to take this car and her groceries, and the Sheridan House Staff realized they now had a Single Mom Ministry and that God was truly in charge!

We didn’t have a grand design for this ministry. In fact, we think it’s perfect we did not try to do this because it magnifies even more that God has had His grand design all along.

He makes all of this happen. Fast forward to 2018 and this marvelous plan now includes transitional housing for the single moms in our program where they will live on Sheridan House property. We’ve grasped hold of our “Give It Away” philosophy because we know God will provide as He always has throughout these

When we get to 10,000 cars, the proceeds from the Family Values tag will completely fund one of our children’s homes! There is a one-time fee of $103 that the state of Florida charges but after that, the annual use fee is only $25.00 per year.
