What’s Missing???

It’s obvious by looking at the cover picture that a parent is missing, but it’s more than a person that’s missing in today’s families. What’s missing in so many of our homes today is training.

Today’s parents are taught to be experts in many important areas, but so often in this culture parents are desperate for help when it comes to the most important ministry of their lives; raising a Godly leader!

Many ask, “How can I be an effective parent?” It’s not about just having a child and managing his schedule, but learning how to raise that child to become a responsible adult who follows Christ.

Parents also need to understand how to be married not just get married, but how to be married and stay married. Single parent homes need training and support as well. If almost half of the children in our community are growing up in single parent households, they need a training resource on how to BE married.

That’s exactly why Sheridan House exists!

It is the mission of Sheridan House to supply Answers for Today’s Families. Our vision at Sheridan House is to provide these answers from a Biblical perspective while pointing families to the local church. Sheridan House is not a para-church organization, but rather an arm of the local church ministry.

Why support Sheridan House this Father’s Day? In the past 12 months Sheridan House has: • Presented live seminars or speaking engagements to 103,050 individuals • Had 101,000 visitors to our Parenting Today.org podcast for parenting help • Counseled 3,117 individuals at our two counseling center locations • Assisted and offered training to 2,100 single moms • Given residential care to 130 teenage boys and girls in our children’s homes while also training their parents and/or grandparents

Spring Auction Wrap-Up On Friday, April 27, we hosted the 32nd Annual Sheridan House Spring Auction in the Global Events Center thanks to the graciousness of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale.

We are so grateful to everyone in attendance, as well as, our very generous auction item donors.

We also want to thank our hard-working Spring Auction Committee and volunteers. This event would not have been possible without all of you.

During this year’s auction, we incorporated ministry funding opportunities. With our Ministry Tree needs displayed in the silent auction and our residential program reward trip auctioned off in our live auction, our generous donors underwrote almost $16,000 worth of ministry in a matter of minutes. It was amazing! Most auction events are designed for people to come, bid, and buy things; but at this auction, the hottest items up for bid were ministry opportunities‌ the opportunity to bless a single parent family, an individual seeking counseling, or a chance to sponsor a residential child this summer.
