A NEW FOUNDATION
“WHEN I GOT HERE…EVERYTHING JUST REVERSED.”
These are words Sherrice used to describe her experience with Shelters to Shutters. Sherrice came to Shelters to Shutters through our partnership with the YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter in Nashville, Tennessee. After leaving a domestic violence situation, she and her four children were in need of a home and stable income to sustain it. Sherrice commented,

Sherrice applied to our program and began meeting with Shelters to Shutters Nashville Executive Director Chris Smith. She was provided with an opportunity to interview for a groundskeeper position with Freeman Webb. Her positive attitude and work ethic won them over.
After receiving a job offer, Sherrice and her family moved into a three-bedroom apartment on site where she was hired. The property has a playground, a pool, and a community room that their family enjoys together. They are also steps from the bus stop for the kids to get to school.
In September 2022, Sherrice celebrated her one-year employment anniversary with Freeman Webb. Sherrice took hold of the opportunity to rebuild a strong foundation for herself and her family, and she continues to thrive today.
