A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN
Dear friends, supporters, and colleagues,
As our organization emerged from the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to take meaningful steps forward in our mission to transition individuals and families struggling with situational homelessness into careers in the multifamily industry and economic self-sufficiency. I continue to be inspired by the efforts and dedication of our team in making this mission a reality.

Leading into 2022, our focus was twofold: expand service footprint into new markets and really focus on maximizing candidate quality through screening and preparedness. We found success in both cases.
During 2022, we added four markets — Charleston, Orlando, Greater Phoenix, and North Texas — each with on-the-ground Executive Directors, multifamily industry support, and strong City Advisory Boards. This combination has proven to be the key to new market entry.
Furthermore, we strengthened our screening and assessment tools, and added a robust, online career-training program that includes the technical, soft, and life skills to better prepare individuals with the tools and knowledge for success.
We were honored to be chosen as a Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation (DRK) portfolio organization after a thorough application and vetting process. DRK finds, funds, and supports early-stage, high-impact social enterprises that tackle some of the world's most pressing societal issues. As a DRK portfolio organization, we receive a generous investment over three years and the leadership of DRK Managing Director, Margo Drakos, who sits on our national board to assist in resources and strategy for scaling operations.
In addition to Margo, we added two national board members: Christy McFerren and Doug Bibby. Christy is President of Catalyst Marketing and a longtime supporter of Shelters to Shutters, both personally and professionally. Doug served as President of the National Multifamily Housing Council for 21 years and brings a wealth of relationships and industry knowledge to the organization.
As we look to 2023, we continue to focus efforts on increasing training opportunities to put forth high-quality candidates for our industry partners and set up our participants for longterm success. I look forward to seeing how many lives we can change for the better together.
Thank you for your partnership and continued support.
