A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO

DEAR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS OF S2S:

In 2021, as many of you know, we changed our program delivery model and began deepening our roots in local communities with the addition of local staff and advisory boards. In 2022, we focused on building a strong foundation to support the work required to deliver our mission and vision efficiently and effectively at the local and national levels.

Recognizing the increased need for career training, job coaching, and individualized plans to assist our participants, we invested in key program supports to deploy across our network. We added an assessment tool and an online learning platform to help us better identify and prepare individuals for work in the multifamily industry, a mentoring program to aid our participants on their journey, and a nationally recognized self-sufficiency matrix tool to help us determine whether our efforts are, in fact, leading a person to economic independence.

On our expansion efforts, we launched four new markets in 2022: Orlando, Phoenix, Charleston, and North Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth). We continued to add local leaders passionate about our work at the local level to our City Advisory Boards. We are proud to now have more than 75 engaged, committed City Advisory Board members across our nine markets. We also expanded our reach within the industry with the addition of 25 new multifamily industry partners receiving more than 70 quality talent referrals for their open positions through our program.

I’m proud of the progress we made last year, but we are still learning. We have not yet cracked the code in terms of scaling our operations. To do so, we are piloting a number of ways to execute our model a bit differently in 2023. I anticipate we will learn a great deal this year that will ultimately accelerate the number of people we will be able to place in full-time employment and affordable housing for themselves and their families. I look forward to sharing those results with you over the course of the year.
