God’s Crazy Love

e are really not sure what to do with February. It is not quite winter; not quite spring. If you hail from the north, you know winter can be tenacious and February, with its changeable weather, often foils the predictions of the most seasoned forecasters. Not to worry though.

Despite the weather, Hallmark reminds us that Valentine’s Day is February 14, so we rush to the store to buy cards bedecked with verses pledging love and affection. Any occasion in which we can express love for another is a good thing, but the hard part is living it out. Human love can be fickle and affected by many things.

Not so with God’s love. It never changes because He never changes.

The best news is that He loves you!

What have you done to earn His love?

Nothing. Can we fall so far that He can’t reach us? Nope, never. What if we struggle to understand God’s love

for us? Many of us do, but He loves us nonetheless. God’s love is unmerited, undeserved and totally free. It costs us nothing, but it cost Him everything.

You may know the verse John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

He gave His most valuable possession for you and for me. What kind of God would do that for a depraved, sin-sick humanity? A God of mercy and grace. A God who is crazy in love with us. A God who after accepting His Son’s sacrifice on our behalf, raised Him from the dead. A God who sent you the most precious Valentine you will ever receive – Jesus!

hristmas and New Year’s brought a flurry of activity to the Pavilion, which found itself bursting with family during the holiday season. “Family” is the word that best describes the Larsen Pavilion community, consisting of its fabulous residents, the fantastic staff and many committed Shell Point friends who volunteer in blue jackets each day.

Christmas Contest Fun The residents stayed busy judging all the work of the Pavilion “elves’ during the recent door decorating contest, as well as the ugly Christmas sweater contest. The door decorating contest induced pretty heavy competition, but incited tons of smiles and conversations.

The ugly Christmas sweater contest had the ladies blushing as Johnny reeled them in hook, line and sinker to win the competition. Even Dr. Nesselroade joined in the contest festivities with a “unique” look of his own!

Valentine's Day

Schilling Dining Room in the Larsen Pavilion

All Pavilion residents and their guests are invited to celebrate the Valentine’s Day holiday with a specially Spaghetti with Meat Sauce • Zucchini • prepared meal. The Valentine’s Day menu will be served Garlic Bread • Sweetheart Dessert on every floor of the Pavilion for all to enjoy, regardless of whether you choose to eat at the Schilling Dining DINNER MENU (1ST & 4TH FLOOR) • 4 P.M. Room or in the comfort of your own room.

The cost is $10.99 for Shell Point residents and $11.70 Chicken Marsala • Smashed Potatoes • for guests, which includes a 6.5 percent tax. Reservations Italian Green Beans • Dinner Roll • for the dining room must be made by Friday, February 8 Sweetheart Dessert by calling the Activities department at (239) 415-5445.

Pavilion Press Here, There, Everywhere The Activities team booked the Suzy Q and took Pavilion residents out on the water to go caroling. Residents also enjoyed a few bus trips to check out Christmas lights around the community. The Pavilion was also blessed with multiple holiday performances from other Shell Point resident groups, such as the Joy Bells, Tone Chimes and the Dancing Santas – as well as carolers from The Village Church and Palm Acres!

The Activity team would like to express its appreciation to every person who took the time to visit with residents and offer assistance to the Pavilion during the holiday season. Nothing went unnoticed and the Pavilion is extremely grateful for your support!
