A world where every young woman can become an educated changemaker who uplifts her family, her community and her world.
To administer comprehensive scholarships for college, university or trade school education, as well as providing mentorship, life skills training, and career counseling to eligible young women who have been at risk of harmful traditional practices such as FGM/C and Early Forced Child Marriage.
The S.H.E. College Fund is unique in its commitment to award scholarships not based on academic performance alone, but on the basis of moral integrity, passion for education, and a strong commitment to creating positive social change.
All S H E College Fund students, staff, and board members commit to honesty, transparency, and accountability in their communications and actions.
The S.H.E. College Fund prioritizes relationships, fostering mutually enriching connections throughout its community: among students; between staff and students; and, between students and their sponsors.
An environment of support and concern for every member of the S.H.E. College Fund community, comprising students, staff, board members, and funders is at the core of the organization’s success
Decisions, actions, and interactions in the organization are informed by the heart as well as the mind.
At the S.H.E. College Fund, our Osotua* Pathway - a holistic approach that goes beyond simply providing scholarshipsleverages the promise and potential of higher education for women. Most of our students are the first female in their families to attend college. S.H.E. helps these students navigate campus life and do their best work in the classroom by providing academic counseling and guidance. From a stethoscope to a school field trip to engineering software, students receive the tools and equipment they need to succeed in their program.
In addition to knowledge, skills, and experience gained through coursework and scholastic internships, S.H.E. students learn critical life skills through a series of S.H.E.-organized online and weekend seminars. They have ready access to psychosocial support, and benefit from mentorship and career counseling.
As a S.H.E. student overcomes hurdles and marks achievements, she gains self-confidence, becomes empowered, and matures into an influential role model and changemaker in her family and community.
By fostering sisterhood and building a strong Osotua community, S.H.E. is investing in students to not only succeed in life, but to lead in their world.

Our global community of donors is supporting young Maasai women, who have said no to FGM and child marriage, to pursue higher education, find good jobs, earn a living, and uplift their families and society. This fund honors the many gifts of Kim Rosen, and is specially designed for donors who want their gift to go directly to supporting scholarships for S.H.E. students.
Joy Milanoi says, “Being a KRSF student is such a profound gift. More than a scholarship, it’s a lifeline, taking me on a transformative journey in my nursing career as well as strengthening my ability to uplift those around me. Truly, I feel hope, empowerment & encouragement. I know that my dream is well within reach.”

With gratitude, we honor our primary funders who have opened their hearts to sponsor a young woman who lives a world away. Since2014,theS.H.E. communityofprimaryfundershaveinvested$766,788inwomen’shigher education. Each gift -- precious and catalytic -- sets a Maasai girl free to pursue her dreams. As trauma survivors, S.H.E. students especially appreciate that sponsors not only ‘see’ them but also believe wholeheartedly in their ability to succeed.
In Kenya, 18% of qualified women enroll in college. Tragically,only1%ofMaasaiwomen areabletopursuehighereducation. They are no less talented than women from other ethnic groups. Coming from a marginalized tribe, their access to public aid is simply non-existent.
As such, the demand for private scholarships for Maasai women is immense. Ourprimary fundersarefuelingapowerfulmovementthat isadvancinggenderequityandinclusive educationalopportunityinKenya!
In 2023, the entire S.H.E. College Fund community was transformed by the generosity of two family foundations that made multi-year commitments to sponsor S.H.E. students through four years of higher education. In combination with our Primary Funders, these grants made it possible for us to say yes to 16 new scholars! These students are pursuing degrees in nutrition & dietetics, community health, law, health records management, and nursing.
The impact of the S.H.E. students is strongly felt in the villages of Maasailand. Word of the unique opportunity is spreading, so that each year there is an exponential increase in scholarship applicants. We are so grateful to the family foundations who make it possible for us to say YES to the dreams of more and more of these passionate young women.

Mental wellness is crucial to the overall wellbeing of women college students in Kenya. As students navigate the pressures of courses, campus life, and family responsibilities, maintaining mental health becomes essential for their academic success and quality of life.
This Fall, S.H.E. launched a ground-breaking mental wellness initiative, training 6 S.H.E. graduates to be mentors who have bimonthly, one-to-one conversations about mental health with every S.H.E. student. Their role is to listen, support and encourage students to seek help when needed. We believe normalizing discussions around mental health builds an even more supportive environment within the S.H.E. family.

Throughout the academic year, the S.H.E. College Fund organizes weekend-long seminars with a focus on expanding knowledge on critical issues and building life skills for future success.
[T]he seminars and talks organized by S.H.E. have been enlightening and empowering. The job preparation seminars have equipped me with essential skills and knowledge necessary for a successful transition into the workforce. Additionally, discussions on topics like reproductive health have been crucial in fostering a deeper understanding of important issues that directly impact my well-being as a young woman.

Alignment of vision and values between the S.H.E. College Fund and our Foundation Partners ensures that the sum of our efforts on behalf of Maasai girls is far greater than any individual effort.
Together, in collaboration with the courageous S.H.E. students and graduates, we have made tremendous strides in promoting higher education for women among the Maasai. Much remains to be done. We will get there together.
We wish to express our profound appreciation to two extraordinary family foundations:
