From The Desk Of The CEO

Upcoming Events

Summer is here, and with it comes a season filled with energy, opportunity, and connection. We’re thrilled to see co-ops and interns joining us throughout the summer, spending time with our incredible community partners, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, and earning money while still in school. These immersive experiences help them see firsthand how vibrant and supportive our community truly is, and we’re proud to play a role in shaping their future careers.

Summertime also offers a chance for our team to slow down just a little and soak up the spirit of the season. To that end, the Chamber’s summer hours are now in effect, with offices open until noon on Fridays through Labor Day. We hope this small adjustment gives our team – and yours – the chance to enjoy a bit more of what makes Sheboygan County so special.

Speaking of supporting local, don’t forget about Chamber Cash! Did you know that 100% of the value of Chamber Cash is directly injected into your participating business of choice? Chamber Cash is the perfect gift for anyone and can be redeemed at hundreds of local businesses across Sheboygan County. It’s a fantastic way to keep money circulating within our community and support our vibrant small business ecosystem. Let’s make Chamber Cash your go-to gift for the summer season!

We’re also delighted to welcome a new face to our team. Bryan Broome has joined us as the new Director of Marketing and Communications, a brand-new role at the Chamber. We’re excited to see Bryan’s expertise and fresh ideas help us tell the Chamber’s story even more effectively.

Summer in Sheboygan County is a season brimming with events and festivals. We encourage everyone to get outside and explore all the wonderful ways to engage with your neighbors and celebrate our community. Be sure to visit our online calendar regularly to stay up to date on community festivals, events, and

John Rogers - Business Roundtables Facilitator

Today’s One-Word Opener is ‘conundrum’. An online dictionary provides this definition – “A conundrum is a problem or puzzle which is difficult or impossible to solve.”

As you know [hopefully] I facilitate the Chamber’s 8 different peer group roundtables. My conundrums relevant to the roundtables include:

• Are the email addresses in Chamber Master correct and current?

• How do I know if the email addresses in Chamber Master are correct and current because I use group email lists for each of the 8 roundtables?

• What is the best way to ask those 2 questions and who do I contact to find out the answers?

• What enticements can ALL OF US AT THE CHAMBER use to get Chamber members to keep their list of ‘representatives’ current?

• How often do I or we ask those questions?

• How often should I send out invitations and reminders to the group lists I use? When I ask that in person, the reply I often get is “Don’t stop, John, because sometimes I need that

• email to get me to register!”

• How will I know if anyone actually reads this Better Together article?

If you do read this article, and have useful answers to any of those questions, maybe you look at the list for your membership to weed out those no longer at your membership listing! Maybe you do a little digging to find out who the primary contact is at your membership listing!

Maybe you send me an email saying “Thank you, John, for this subtle reminder!”

Remember, we are all Better Together!

Leadership Development Series

Making the Transition from Individual Contributor to Leader of Others March 11 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Team members are often promoted because they excel at being individual contributors and have a high degree of technical expertise. Neither are necessarily required to lead other people and unless we are intentional about developing the leadership skills of high-producing staff, they will become frustrated, disillusioned and be less than stellar in their leadership role. This does not have to be the reality we face in our organizations.

Coaching for Success March 25 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Achieving results starts with effective goal planning including the use of SMART goals, setting of expectations and consistent communication focused on achieving or surpassing those expectations. Alignment with personal values, daily work objectives and organizational mission ensures that goals become results and employee satisfaction remains high. In addition, the ability to “coach” employees through the use of pro-active Development Planning relying on the 70-20-10 model of learning supports continual professional development.

Maintaining Professionalism Under Pressure May 6 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

We can’t control the behavior and emotions of others, but we can control our own. Avoiding “false choices”, understanding how we respond when under stress, examining our own relationship with EQ and IQ, properly framing a “problem” and creating a solution mindset are all elements of this workshop.

Influencing without Authority May 13 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Leadership has less to do with title and everything to do about the choices we make and how it impacts our behavior. Understanding the, “position myth”, 360 Degrees of Leadership, where influence/power are traditionally seen as coming from, our different behavioral styles and the mindset needed to create a “WE” vs. “me” focus will all be explored during this session.

Leadership 101 June 3 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Basic tenants of leadership and followership will be explored during this session.

$ 249

Leadership 201 June 17 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am for any one session, combine any three for $500

Building off the experiences of mature leaders, this session will ask leaders to self-reflect, share and learn from and with other attendees in their session.

Individualized Coaching $99 per hour for non-profit, $199 per hour for profit rate

Based on the specific individualized request (coach, employee, organization), will put together a plan for 1:1 coaching utilizing tools such as Crucial Conversations, 70-20-10 Development Planning, various behavioral and leadership surveys, books and approaches.

Crucial Conversations ® April 29 & 30 | September 30 & October 1 | 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The official Crucial Conversations curriculum, led by a trained-facilitator in a 2-day workshop. Minimum of 6 (either all one organization or mixed co-hort)

Cost: $1000

Integrity Service ® October 8, 15, 22 & 29 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The official Integrity Service curriculum, led by a trained-facilitator in a series of 4, two-hour sessions. Minimum of 6 (either all one organization or mixed co-hort)

Cost: $1000
