HISTORY
Joshua Lodge NO. 41, Free & Accepted Masonry , in Blackshear, Georgia, were aroused, and became aware that there was a "missing link"-there was no affiliate Eastern Star Chapter. Inspiration and enlightment came from Sister Ida Mae Odol Branch Williams, who was serving as Worthy Matron of Eureka Chapter No. 74 in neighboring Waycross, Georgia. And so it was that she, full of zeal and love, made several trips to Blackshear to seek members who were desirous of receiving the light of the Order. Her first applicant was Sister Rosanna Mack, the second applicant was Brother J.J. Mack, followed by Sister Cornelia Richardson, Sister Lizzle Lassiter, Sister Pearl Tingle, and others. Royal Grand Patron Sol C. Mack as the first Worthy Patron.
The founder demitted to Ocean Star Chapter No. 183, Order of the Eastern Star in Waycross, when her chapter was consolidated, there she continued her services and became a Life Member. Since the birth of Ida Mae Chapter No. 229, Order of the Eastern Star, the Chapter has grown and had numerous accomplishments.

Sergeant Kennedy Ladon Sanders
June 30, 1999 - January 28, 2024
In loving memory of Sgt. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, a vibrant and dedicated 24-year-old whose leadership and service left a powerful legacy. From her earliest days, Kennedy showed a fearless and determined spirit shaped by growing up with two active brothers. That courage and competitive drive carried her through achievements as an accomplished athlete in basketball, soccer, and softball, and later as a respected leader in the U.S. Army.
Joining the Army Reserves in 2019 as a Horizontal Construction Engineer, Kennedy served with honor during deployments to Africa and the Middle East, earning a posthumous promotion to Sergeant granted by President Joe Biden. Her determination to keep learning, ranging from studying Italian to practicing jiu jitsu reflected her boundless curiosity and enthusiasm for life.
Kennedy’s radiant energy , resilience, and positive spirit inspired everyone she met, whether on the sports field, the battlefield, or at home. Her legacy reminds us all to live with courage, compassion, and the willingness to serve others. May she rest in peace, her light forever shining in our hearts.
"The
legacy of heroes — the memory of a great name, and the inheritance of a great example."
