Message From the Mayor

We have enjoyed another year of fiscal growth, commercial expansion, improvements to infrastructure, and most importantly, continued community spirit and enthusiasm! The pandemic heightened our awareness and need for open space/ recreational areas to utilize in our everyday lives and in 2022 the Village purchased the closed golf course and conference center from the hotel. The Village is now working with the new hotel owners and a golf course architect to reconfigure the old course by adding a 9-hole Par 3 and practice area to an 18-hole course that will be surrounded by a trail for residents and visitors to walk/run/bike. While plans are being developed, I invite you to take advantage of the current path that our Public Works crews worked tirelessly to clear so that the community could enjoy this important piece of property in the heart of our community.

We are very proud of the improvements in Old Town that have created a perfect gathering place for the community to attend events such as Septemberfest, Old Town Brew Fest and, my favorite, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Festival of Lights. Thank you to Village staff, the Septemberfest Committee, Bloomingdale Chamber and the many volunteers who make these events successful and highlight our historic Old Town. It definitely fosters

Bloomingdale’s sense of community spirit and pride. Be sure to come out this year!

Growth continues as retail, restaurants, commercial and residential development flourish. Some notable additions include the opening of First Watch, Culver’s, Belle Tire and Eggceptional Cafe. I am thrilled to announce that in 2023 we will welcome Cooper’s Hawk on the former Barnes & Noble site and Shake Shack to the corner of Springfield Drive and Army Trail Road to the Bloomingdale business community. As our business community grows, so do the number of residential opportunities including the final phase of Springfield Point a residential community just south of Army Trail and ranch style homes at Springfield Place across from Springfield Park. We also look forward to the construction of an 18-unit townhome development for Schick and First and a 9-unit townhome development for Medinah on the Lakes in 2023.

I, along with the Bloomingdale Village Board of Trustees (Vince Ackerman, Bill Belmonte, Bill Bolen, Frank Bucaro, Patrick Shannon, and Judi Von Huben), am looking forward to continuing our work in the community and continuing to push the Village’s motto of “Growth with Pride” forward in 2023.
