“Honestly, there’s nothing better than ice cream. You know? It’s so American. It’s just like apple pie or cherry pie and baseball. There’s nothing more quintessential than ice cream on a hot summer day.” This is a sentiment from Sara O’Hair, one of the owners of Junction Creamery. Junction Creamery officially opens for the season Monday, April 6. The business is owned by four

O’Hairs — Sara, MacKenzie, Patrick and Jodi. “It’s just right around the corner,” MacKenzie said. “(It’s) good so far. We’re excited to get back in the business, just trying to refresh ourselves. It’s been awhile.” Business hours for the month of April will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, as the weather gets warmer throughout the spring and summer, Junction Creamery will stay open to 10 p.m. There will be free small ice Please see JUNCTION CREAMERY, Page 4

Performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11. Tickets are $6 for reserved seats, $4 for adult general admission and $2 student general admission. “Harvey” was previously performed at Clarke in 1997.

Harvey: The six-and-half-foot imaginary rabbit Here is a provided synopsis of the play “Harvey,” from Clarke’s director Don May. “Harvey” begins when Elwood P. Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend Harvey, a sixand-a-half-foot rabbit, to guests at a society party. Elwood’s sister Veta has seen as much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter Myrtle Mae and their family from future embarrassment. Problems arise, however, when Veta herself is mistakenly assumed to be on the verge

of lunacy when she explains to doctors that years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also. The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When he shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems the mild-mannered Elwood’s delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors. Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn’t so bad after all.

ing effective date and applicability provisions. Stances? The crowd wanted to know what stance Rep. Joel Fry, R-Osceola, and Sen. Amy Sinclair, R-Allerton, would take if the bill moves forward, considering Clarke County is in the middle of a reservoir project and using the right of eminent domain to acquire property for public water usage. Fry said his stance on the reservoir project in the legislature is the same as its been in the past five years — he will remain neutral. “I will continue to remain neutral, given the fact that I
