Band Extravaganza March 19 The Oregon school bands will hold a pasta dinner fundraiser on Thursday, March 19 from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. at the Oregon High School cafeteria. Following the pasta dinner, band students in grades 5-12 will perform in the 21st annual Band Extravaganza at 7 p.m. at the Blackhawk Center. Admission to the concert is free but donations are
welcome. The pasta dinner includes pasta, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $5 (children five and under eat free). Proceeds from the dinner will go to the OHS Band Program. Advance tickets may be purchased from any band members (grades 5-12), by emailing Andy Eckardt, band director, at aeckardt@ocusd.
net, or by calling the school at 815-732-6241. The concert will feature performances by the fifth and sixth grade band and the David L. Rahn Junior High band, under the direction of Miles Beske, as well as selections performed by the Oregon High School band, directed by Andy Eckardt. All three bands will perform together, as well.
K of C to host blood drive The Oregon Knights of Columbus 1092 and Catholic Daughters of America 1337 will host a community blood drive on Friday, March 20 in the Knights of Columbus Hall at St. Mary’s Community Center, 881 Mongan Drive, Oregon. Staff from the Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC) will draw blood
from 1 to 7 p.m. The blood drive will run in conjunction with the season’s first St. Mary’s Lenten Fish Fry that will start at 5 p.m. Anyone donating or attempting to donate at the drive will receive a coupon for $2 off dinner at any of this season’s St, Mary’s Fish Frys. Anyone who is at least 17
years old (16 years old with parental consent), weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health, should be eligible to donate blood. Lions announce raffle winners The Oregon Lions Club conducted its meat raffle drawing at its Feb. 26 meeting. Lion Candice Holbrook assisted Lion Dave Stenger in drawing the names of the lucky winners. More than four dozen
names were drawn, and meat was delivered to the prize winners by club members. “The Oregon Lions wish to thank everyone who bought a ticket for this annual fundraiser,” said club member Jean Hoff.
The top prize winners were Kim Murray, half hog; Gary Bocker, half hog; Tom Shannon, beef tenderloin. The four $50 Super Valu certificate winners were Butch Bolhaus, Bob Bloemker, Gary Olson, and HomeTown Auto Repair.
