HONOR BAND – One hundred eighteen students from 13 high schools in McHenry County recently performed in the 40th annual Festival Concert at Woodstock North High School. This year’s McHenry County Honor Band was led by guest conductor Jack Stamp, professor of music and director of band studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Antique appraisals at historical society The McHenry County Historical Society will host an antique appraisal day from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at the museum, 6422 Main St. Appraisers will evaluate art, photography, textiles, holiday items, documents, country store advertising, china, glass, stamps, dolls, toys and jewelry. The cost is $5 for each object with a maximum of three appraisals a person. Reserve a 10-minute slot in advance by calling the museum at 815-923-2267. Walk-ins also are welcome on a first-come, firstserved basis. Free admission to the museum will be extended to those bringing an object in for appraisal. Singers sought for Palm Sunday concert The 21st Palm Sunday Interfaith Concert will be at 2:45 p.m. March 29 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee. The concert will feature local singers, organists, musicians and clergy. Singers who would like to participate in the massed choir are welcome to attend rehearsals from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, starting Feb. 16, at First Congregational Church of Dundee, 900 S. Conservation district to offer nature programs The McHenry County Conservation District offers the following programs. Registration is required at www.mccdistrict.org. • “A Well Planned Garden” will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake. Natural fertilizers, companion planting, organic pest control and other methods for creating a more sustainable garden will be discussed. Free for county residents; $6 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Sunday. • “Hands-On History: Candlemaking” will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood. The program is open to those ages 14 and older. Participants will make tapered candles to take home. Free for county residents, $13 for nonresidents.
