F

rom a “crown jewel” redevelopment in the downtown area to several other new projects throughout the community, Tinley Park is the place to grow or set up a new business.

From its location along the Interstate 80 corridor and proximity to downtown Chicago and two major airports, Tinley Park offers up a tremendous opportunity for new and expanding businesses. Thanks to numerous hotels and more than 140 restaurants, there is an assortment of places to stay and eat including many independent unique offerings.

A mainstay of the community is the 28,000-seat Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre, one of the country’s

biggest entertainment venues, and the Tinley Park Convention Center, one of the Midwest’s premier meeting and convention centers. In addition, Tinley Park and the nearby surrounding area is home to more than 800 non-retail businesses.

One of Tinley Park’s newest developments is the creation of Harmony Square, a new multi-use plaza that is set to open early this summer. The 1.6-acre site at the corner of Oak Park Avenue and North Street in the center of downtown Tinley and adjacent to the Metra station has been reimagined into a four-season use and flexible open space area. The space will be used for a variety of events and programs including art shows, veteran ceremonies, a weekly farmers market, outdoor exercise

classes, movies, and game nights. With a full performance stage as an ode to Tinley Park’s rich music connection, this space will be home to many concerts.

The site also includes space for smaller scale pop up events. With over 300 events and concerts already on the books for 2025, this space will quickly become the place to be within the community. Often referred to as the “third space,” not the place where you live or work, but the place you venture out to when seeking a place to hang out or relax.

In the winter, the large lawn transforms into a winter ice rink with skate rentals, warming hut, and curling lanes. Seasonal fire pits, seating, and a Christmas tree will be included to enhance the winter experience. Year round, the site is

decorated with catenary lighting, lush landscape planter beds with built in seat walls, and additional movable tables and chairs.

A newly rebuilt Teehan’s Tavern reopened this spring, taking a prominent spot in the Harmony Square project. With a long history, predating the founding of Tinley Park, the new Teehan’s is once again a central component of the community where long-time patrons and new visitors to Tinley Park can gather. This is just one of the variety of restaurants in downtown Tinley to enjoy, including Durbin’s, another new restaurant that will include a rooftop bar allowing diners to enjoy the weather and watch concerts in Harmony Square.

Tinley Park is seeing an assortment of new businesses

from grocery stores to retail chains and independent businesses. Positioned at the intersection of 159th St and Harlem Ave, Tinley Park Plaza includes national retailers such as Burlington Stores, Planet Fitness, The Tile Shop, Bath & Body Works, and Phenix Salon Suites.

The newest addition to that development is Amazon Fresh.

At the site of a former Kmart, Pete’s Fresh Market including a warehouse and distribution center is anticipated to be moving forward in development.

Scannell Properties is developing more than 110 acres at Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road creating more than one million square feet of floor space over three industrial buildings – bringing additional jobs to the area and property tax revenue to the various taxing districts.

ith more than 400 members, the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce is committed to welcoming new businesses while also continuing to provide new opportunities for long-standing members. Celebrating 70 years in 2025, the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce runs the gambit from large to medium size businesses, entrepreneurs, retail, nonprofit, manufacturer/distribution, and small businesses. With numerous events, programs, and networking opportunities held throughout the year, the Chamber is committed to support the growth and success of its members through networking, professional development, government advocacy, and community connections. Some of its key advantages to membership in the chamber include:

INSTALLATION AND AWARDS DINNER

This year marked the 70th anniversary of the organization, an award dinner was held that included more than 150 individuals. The well-attended event included the installation of new officers and honored the outgoing board members.

RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONIES

The Chamber holds about 15 to 20 ribbon cuttings each year to shine a light on new businesses in the community.

Ribbon cuttings are held to celebrate a new business, change in ownership, new management, new location, or remodeled/expanded businesses. At the ribbon cutting, the business will be provided with ceremonial scissors, a commemorative ribbon, and a membership plaque.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS

Business after-hours events are an opportunity for members to visit different

local businesses while networking with other members. One special event each year includes an annual trip to the ballpark. For sponsoring businesses, it is a chance to have fellow chamber members visit your business and learn about your organization.

HOLIDAY MEMBER EVENT

Last year’s Jingle and Mingle holiday party included appetizers, dinner, dessert, and open bar. The annual event includes raffle prizes and is a great opportunity for chamber members to meet new fellow business owners and reconnect with old friends.

BUSINESS LUNCH & LEARN

Held throughout the year, lunch and learn are opportunities for local businesses to learn about various ways to run their business more effectively and efficiently.

Past topics included digital marketing, wills and trusts, contracts, and QuickBooks. The events include food and drinks.

New this year, the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce is partnering with SCORE, a nonprofit organization that fosters the small business community through mentoring and educational partnerships.

SCORE offers no cost advice on the ins and outs of operating a business including finance, human resources, business planning, advertising, social media, accounting, and sales.

MONTHLY MEMBER MEETINGS

The Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce monthly member meetings include speaker events such as presentations from government officials giving updates on village business or educational segments such as a talk from the Tinley Park Police Chief speaking about safety in schools and businesses. New members get the opportunity to speak before other members to introduce themselves and talk about their business. Time is also allotted for a member of the month drawn at a prior meeting to talk to the group about their business. The meetings also include member-to-member networking, calendar updates, and committee reports.

As part of fulfilling that mission, over the year, the Chamber works closely with other Tinley Park entities such as the Village and Park District to host many events as part of its commitment to creating a stronger community.

Brew & Vine

Whether you’re a beer enthusiast, wine connoisseur, or bourbon aficionado, the annual Brew & Vine 2025 was the place to be. The event took place on Friday, April 11 and Saturday April 12. Held at the Odyssey Country Club, this 21 and older event brings out wine, beer and bourbon connoisseurs. The event opened for VIPs at 6 p.m. each day and 7 p.m. for the general public and ended at 11 p.m. each evening. Posh Arrivals, a Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce member and transportation provider, served as the official transportation company for the event, making getting to and from the event safe and easy. Tickets ranged from $15 for a designated driver, $40 for general admission which included a tasting glass and 12 taste tickets, and $55 for VIPs which included a tasting glass and 24 taste tickets.

Bag Crawl

Held on Sunday May 18, the 10th annual Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce Bag Crawl will include seven stops where participants can enjoy complimentary food and have a chance to toss bags at each stop to accumulate points and earn prizes. The entry fee is $35 and includes a commemorative T-shirt. This annual fun-filled event takes place on historic Oak Park Avenue in downtown Tinley Park.

The 80th Avenue Metra Train Station in Tinley Park will become a bit of Bavaria at the 8th Annual Authentic Oktoberfest.

Trim -A-Tree

Beginning on Saturday, Nov. 15, local businesses who choose to sponsor a tree can head to Harmony Square to decorate their tree or leave the decorating to a local nonprofit community group. Kicking off the holiday season, on Friday, Nov. 21, the Village of Tinley Park’s Lighting Ceremony will take place where the six-foot trees receive special recognition. Awards are given to the Best Business-Decorated tree and Best Community Group-Decorated tree.

Parade of Lights

Sparkles, glimmering lights, and all things merry will be prominent at the 27th Annual Parade of Lights in downtown Tinley Park. The event will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025. With about 35 floats, the long-standing holiday tradition brings the community together to celebrate the season. The culmination of the parade includes a surprise visit from the one and only — Santa Claus. Prizes will be awarded for best use of lights/ décor, best community group entry, best business entry, and judge’s choice.
