‘BIG MOMENT’ FOR PATH
Push for Path organizers look forward to groundbreaking May 7 in Yorkville By CHRISTINE BOLIN DASCHER cbolin@kendallcountynow.com

ay 7 will be a big day for family and friends of the McCue family. At 10 a.m. on that day, there will be a ceremonial groundbreaking for a bike/walking/running trail in honor of Darlene McCue, a 46-year-old mother who was struck and killed by a pickup truck in July 2009 on Kennedy Road in Yorkville while she was riding her bike. The groundbreaking event is something that’s been years in the making – ever since the organization Push for the Path started in 2012. Push for the Path is a nonprofit organization created to raise money to build a 2.72-mile, 10-foot-wide path parallel to Kennedy Road from Route 47 to the existing trail south of Mill Road in Yorkville. The path will connect with Grande Reserve and Autumn Creek neighborhoods, Oswego’s Mill Road trail near Orchard Road, several public parks and playgrounds, the Yorkville Rec Center, downtown Yorkville, Riverfront Park, Town Square Park and 39 miles of the Fox River Trail – which connects to Oswego, Aurora and Batavia – as well as a 25-mile path that goes up to the Wisconsin border. “We’ve been working on this for years – it’s something we’ve been working long and hard for,” said Lynn Dubajic, YorEric Miller - emiller@shawmedia.com kville’s economic development consultant as well as a close friend to the McCue Family and friends of Darlene McCue, who died in a tragic accident in 2009, pose for a photo family. “[May 7] is the big moment.
