FALL FEST

When it comes to community, the Frankfort area has a proud tradition of working together to make a difference and much of that comes from its dedicated volunteers.

In 2023, Frankfort Fall Festival celebrates its 55th anniversary. Volunteers and members of the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce worked together in 1968 to launch Fall Festival during Labor Day weekend, bringing together aspects of prior community festivals and setting a tradition.

The roots of a community-wide festival in the late summer and early fall, can be traced back to 1935 when members of the Volunteer Fire Department hosted a community picnic at Frankfort Grove, near what is today Alsip Nursery on LaGrange Road. The community picnic served as an opportunity to bring people together and to help raise funds for the fire department.

Efforts to raise funds to purchase a 20-acre park were at the heart of a Fall Festival in 1950. In 1958 the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce was formed, and the members collaborated to host a two-day
