Former Dixon Comptroller Rita Crundwell purchased so much clothing that some of it seized recently by the federal government still had tags on it. “It was very clear to me that Rita Crundwell never wore the same item twice,” said U.S. Marshals Service inspector Jason Wojdylo.

Among the items seized by the U.S. Marshals Service recently from former Dixon Comptroller Rita Comptroller were a T-shirt and football signed by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, more than 100 designer jackets, dozens of pairs of boots, handbags and cowboy hats. The items will be sold at auction, with proceeds going to the city of Dixon – less expenses for the seizure and sale. The photos were provided by the U.S. Marshals Service.
ing, seizing and sorting anything tied to the former Dixon comptroller that might be considered an asset. On Thursday, the government released a comprehensive inventory of property seized recently. It gives the public eye-opening confirmation of the lifestyle the internationally renowned quarter horse breeder and show woman led while stealing more than $53 million from her hometown over 2 decades.

Two margarita makers. A large box of miscellaneous towels. Four watering cans. A kangaroo skin. It looks like the government might finally be getting down to the bottom of Rita Crundwell’s barrel. Jason Wojdylo, chief inspector of asset forfeiture for the U.S. Marshals Service, has spent this summer track-
DIXON – A painting contractor’s delay in starting work has city leaders wondering whether the bid was too good to be true after all. In August, the City Council heavily debated the extraordinarily low bid from Bill’s Painting & Tuckpointing Co. for the rail painting project on the Galena Avenue bridge. The Mount Prospect-based company came in with a $91,800 bid for the project – less than half of what competing bidders submitted. It’s actually a familiar story. In 2013, both Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights rejected low bids from “Bill’s Commercial Painting Co. Inc.” owned by Steve Kokosoulis. Kokosoulis is also listed as the owner of BP&T, and members of the company were once listed on the state’s banned contractors list.
The government now has seized thousands of her trophies, dozens of pairs of her boots, and hundreds of horse blankets. There are the St. John designer jackets, which cost $600 to $2,200 each. Crundwell owned 122 of those – or rather, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jackets, thanks to the unchecked reins she held over public money. CON CONTINUED ON A11

City Clerk Marie Rombouts said the liquor license, which was issued for June 15, will expire 1 year from that date. Only local liquor license holders can have video gambling. GAMBLING CONTINUED ON A9
