Eight trainers are on staff. There also will be 9,000 square feet of space to work the dogs, on a state-of-the-art AstroTurf-like surface, for traction and comfort. The lighting is designed to eliminate shadows that would interfere with

any jumping or agility activities, and there’s a sound system available that will enable instructors to more easily communicate with students and for students to be able to hear their instructor. The building offers free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets for competitors and spectators, and there are bathrooms, and office and storage space. There will be an open house March 12, followed by a 2-week period to register for classes. Once classes are set, the center will open. DOGS CONTINUED ON A2

DIXON – Bill Brozovich is the only career prosecutor among the three Republican Party candidates on the March 15 primary ballot vying to be the next Lee County state’s attorney. “I saw how the system worked under [former State’s Attorney Dan Fish], and it was a very stable system,” said Brozovich, 51, who has called Dixon home for 25 years. Also on the ballot are Michael Downey, 63, a Dixon attorney in private practice, and Matthew Klahn, 37, a Lee County assistant state’s attorney. BROZOVICH CONTINUED ON A10

DIXON – Michael Downey was born in Dixon. His four children attended local schools. His grandfather and great uncle both owned farmland in the southern part of Lee County. His roots here run so deep that Downey Road in East Grove Township, southwest of Amboy, bears his family’s name. Downey, 63, of Nachusa, plans to use his knowledge – that of the community and its people – to bring stability to a county office that will see its fifth state’s attorney in 16 years. DIXON – Matthew Klahn hails from Camanche, Iowa, but he quickly dispells any doubt about his commitment to the Sauk Valley. Klahn, 37, is one of three Republican attorneys vying for the Republican Party nomination in the March 15 primary election. Also on the ballot are Bill Brozovich, 51, a Lee County resident and Vermilion County prosecutor, and Michael Downey, 63, a Dixon attorney in private practice. KLAHN CONTINUED ON A5
