Volleyball Forreston beats AFC 25-11, 25-14: Individual leaders for Forreston were Rylee Broshous, 7 kills, Mary Salins, 10 assists, 6 aces, and Kara Erdmann, 10 digs. Rockford Lutheran def. Oregon 21-25, 25-16, 25-12: The Crusaders rallied from a set down to beat the Hawks in a Big Northern battle. Jenae Bothe had nine kills, five digs, a block and an ace for Oregon. Ava Wight had seven kills and 20 digs. Aubrey Point had 11 digs, an ace and 16 assists. Eastland def. Forreston 29-27, 25-21: Two close sets both went to the Cougars for the NUIC win. Rylee Broshous had 10 kills for the Cardinals. Jaiden Schneiderman had five kills. Brooke Boettner had 11 assists. Oregon def. West Carroll 20-25, 26-24, 25-19: The Hawks outlasted the Thunder in a nonconference match at the Blackhawk Center. Ava Wight had 15 digs, seven kills and three aces, and Jenae Bothe led Oregon (4-7) with nine kills and two blocks. Cass Aylward added 10 digs and four aces, and Sophie Stender chipped in 19 digs. Fulton def. Polo 25-9, 20-25, 25-23: The Steamers pulled out an NUIC win in a tight final set over the Marcos. Nicole Boelens led Polo with 13 kills, 17 digs and two aces. Teah Almasy added eight assists and eight digs, and Natalie Nelson had six assists, eight digs and two aces. Forreston def. AFC 25-11, 25-14: The Cardinals picked up an NUIC win over the Raiders. Forreston’s Rylee Broshous had seven kills, while Mary Salins had 10 assists and six aces, and Kara Erdmann had 10 digs. Polo 5th, Panthers 6th in Pearl City: The Marcos were 3-1-1 and Erie-Prophetstown went 1-4 on the day at the Pearl City Invite, as Polo defeated the Panthers in the consolation championship match. Football Stillman beats Dixon: Stillman Valley’s rushing attack put together just enough quality drives to build a lead, then had just enough to get the final few first downs to run out the clock in a 20-14 win over Dixon. The Dukes (3-1) scored with 3:24 left in the game to get the deficit down to six points, but on the ensuing drive, the Cardinals converted a third-and-short and were able to kneel down from there. Stillman Valley running back Jory Spain had 33 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Spain carried 21 times for 87 yards in the first half alone, accounting for 21 of his teams 32 first-half offensive plays and all but 17 of the Cardinals’ first-half yards. He then capped off his team’s scoring with a 5-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter and a 3-yard run with just over six minutes to play. Dixon’s Tyler Shaner finished with 18 carries Earleen Hinton/Shaw Media for 104 yards. Forreston’s defense held Dakota to 90 yards of total offense. 8-Man Amboy beat the top-ranked team in the state in 8-man football, West Central, 60-14 at The Harbor. The Clippers got 20 points in the first quarter and 32 in the second to jump out to a 52-8 halftime lead. Kye Koch rushed five times for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Tucker Lindenmeyer had six carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
