Exhibit at the Llibrary, Sept. 2-23 Interactive Exhibit in the Art Gallery - Learn everything you need to know about recycling and living green. Come upstairs to explore the interactive

“Where is Away?” exhibit that has been loaned to us by SCARCE, an award-winning environmental education non-profit dedicated to creating sustainable communities. The exhibit is a 3-dimensional, four-sided, free-standing exhibit that allows a person to explore how to responsibly dispose of common items found around the home. The items range from plastic bottles and bags to household chemicals, electronics and food scraps with best practice solutions that include composting, recycling at home, or taking them to a special collection center. Libraries by their very nature are “green” in that their resources are shared by the larger community. Please come and see what difference you can make with this traveling exhibit. Try It Tuesday – Sept. 14 (while supplies last) DIY Back to School Wipe Board - Pick up your FREE kit to make your own custom back to school wipe board. Get your kids back on track and help them to be organized the night before school. Kits come with everything needed. New!! Card Club – Ink with a Friend Remember the last time you received a greeting card in the mail? Did it make you smile? Sending personal cards to your friends and family is a way to let them know you care and are thinking about them. Creating these cards makes it even more special. Come join us for Ink with a Friend and meet Liz. You will be provided a pre-cut kit along with personal instruction on how to create the wonderful cards while learning a variety of card making techniques. All designs include beautiful colored cardstock, gorgeous designer series paper, detailed stamped images, die cut pieces, matching ink, ribbon, and embellishments. This month, Liz has designed two Halloween cards for you to make. All cards come with matching envelopes. We need a minimum of three participants. Hyrdro Dipping - Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Appropriate for youth in 8th grade and up. This will be half hour sessions. Hydro dipping is a method of applying printed design to three dimensional surfaces. It can be used on metal, plastic, glass and various other

materials that can withstand being submerged into water. This program uses spray paint, so masks will be required even though we will be outside. Participants can bring one item to be dipped, and should be listed at time of registration Items can include ceramics, plastics, metals, shoes, frames, water flasks, etc. Registration required 815-732-2724. Zero Waste Mindset - Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Virtual Program - The average person in the United States sends 4.4 pounds of trash to the landfill every day! Speaker Monica Chavez provides tips on reducing waste while saving money and improving your health. Monica will help you re-energize your recycling practices, gain habits that are healthy & earth-friendly, & explore the idea of a zero-waste lifestyle!
