Sheriff Activity


Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle reported the following activity. Readers are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proved guilty.
Aug. 24
Kaylie Barber, 32, of Stillman Valley was arrested at 8 a.m. on a charge of driving with a revoked driver’s license following a traffic stop at the intersection of Wilson and Pine streets in Stillman Valley. She was also cited for no insurance and transported to Ogle County Jail.
Shykierah Taylor, 23, of Rockford was arrested on a charge of no valid driver’s license after deputies stopped her vehicle at about 11:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Sam’s Drive-In in Byron. Taylor also was cited for an illegal window tint and expired registration. She was transported to Ogle County Jail.
Aug. 25
Dorian Bizzle, 19, of Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended after being stopped for speeding on Interstate 39 near Monroe Center. Bizzle was transported to the Ogle County Jail.
At 11:53 a.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash with an injury that had occurred earlier in the morning. After an investigation, deputies said Joshua Drake, 39, of Walnut was traveling south in his Jeep in the 8000 block of South Carthage Road when he partially struck a tree limb in the roadway. Drake traveled partially off the east side of the road while trying to avoid the tree limb. He then traveled off the west side of the roadway before striking a tree, causing heavy front-end damage. Drake later checked himself into KSB Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Deputies and the Oregon Fire Protection District responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of South Ridge Road at 4:51 p.m. An investigation revealed a vehicle driven north by Nathaniel Bramm, 39, of Dixon traveled off the east edge of the roadway and struck a culvert before coming to rest in a cornfield. Bramm was taken by Oregon emergency medical services to KSB Hospital for apparent minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Aug. 26
Jake Wyatt, 23, of Rochelle was arrested at 3:41 a.m. on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop on West Blackhawk Drive at South Union Street in Byron for an equipment violation. Wyatt also was cited for no registration light, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Wyatt was transported to Ogle County Jail.
Aug. 27
At 10:36 p.m., deputies, the Byron Fire Protection District and the Stillman Valley Fire Protection District responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash in the area of 7600 East Hales Corner. An investigation revealed that a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 17-year-old male was traveling east on Hales Corner when the driver left the roadway and overcorrected before overturning in the south ditch. The 17-year-old was examined for suspected minor injuries at the scene and released. He was cited for improper lane usage and the vehicle removed by Nielsen Towing & Recovery.
Aug. 29
At 3:11 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of North Adams Street in Polo for the report of a domestic disturbance. After an investigation, John W. Simmons, 43, of Polo was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct.
Simmons also had an active Ogle County warrant for failure to appear and an active La Salle County warrant for failure to appear. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held with no bond.
Aug. 30
At 1:04 a.m, deputies along with Byron EMS responded to the 8900 block of North Illinois Route 2 for a single vehicle rollover accident with injuries. An investigation revealed that Chase Clarke, 28 of Byron was traveling north on Route 2 when he attempted to evade a group of deer in the roadway.
Clarke lost control of the vehicle and overturned in the west ditch. He was treated for suspected minor injuries and taken to a local hospital. The vehicle was removed by Maggio’s, and no citations were issued.
