DeKalb County foreclosures drop

Ebola patient’s family moved

Although the statistics seem to show things are looking up, the public could start to see more foreclosures coming onto the market this year, said Laura Boyer, managing broker at Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell. “Many speculate that we will see another influx of foreclosed homes coming to the market,” Boyer said in an email. “Our early data trending in 2014 can be a testament to some truth in that speculation.” The police’s job in checking on a foreclosed home is mostly reactive, DeKalb police Lt. James McDougall said.

What’s rolling through town? DeKalb County officials don’t sweat local rail traffic

Crew disinfects Dallas home where man stayed By DAVID WARREN and JAMIE STENGLE The Associated Press DALLAS – A hazardous-materials crew decontaminated the Texas apartment Friday where an Ebola patient was staying when he got sick, while public-health officials cut by half the number of people being monitored for any symptoms of the deadly disease. Hours later, the family that was living in the apartment was moved to a private residence in a gated community that was offered by a volunteer. The decontamination team was to collect bed sheets, towels and a mattress used by the infected man before he was hospitalized, as well as a suitcase and other personal items belonging to Thomas Eric Duncan, officials said. The crew planned to place the items in industrial barrels and take them to a storage facility, according to Dallas County Fire Marshal Robert De Los Santos. Once the proper permits are issued, the materials were to be hauled away for permanent disposal, probably by incineration at a landfill.
