At Salon G, the key word is “organic.” “We’re all organic, and we offer exclusive brand names, whereas pretty much everybody else in town uses more of a mainstream product line,” said Gretchen Baker, owner of Salon G in Creston. “Ashli (Peterson) is one of the only estheticians here in town, and hers is an all-natural line, too.” When Baker decided to open Salon G at 113 N. Maple St., it was previously a used furniture store. The salon would be Baker’s first business of her own. “It’s been nerve-racking but very self-satisfying,” Baker said. “Starting from nothing and trying to build it up is a lot of work.” Salon G opened in November 2014. At first, it was just Baker offering hair care, nail care and tanning. On Jan. 5, she brought on Ashli Peterson, an esthetician, to provide skin care.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton has questioned Bernie Sanders’ electability. She’s criticized his plans for health care, foreign policy and Wall Street. And she’s tagged him with flip-flopping on gun control. None of it appears to be sticking, say some Democrats who have raised concerns that a months-long primary campaign could create lasting damage for their party. While most believe

Skin care Peterson was licensed in 2006 at La’ James International College in Johnston and also earned an associate of arts degree at Southwestern Community College in 2013. In the past, she has owned a salon and worked as an esthetician in Des Moines. Now at Salon G, Peterson offers facials, microdermabrasion, peels, body

wraps and treatments and full body waxing. “Right now, I offer three kinds of wraps. I have an aroma therapy wrap, which with I can mix any type of essential oil to suit that person’s needs,” Peterson said. “I have a seaweed wrap that helps detoxify. Then, there’s a mud wrap that helps put moisture back into the skin. I can also do a cellulite treatment if that’s something the client de-

sires.” Peterson has considered adding chocolate and wine wraps, but that will require some experimentation first. “It’s kind of like a science project in here,” Peterson said. “It is. We’re always trying something new,” Baker added. Some of Peterson’s prices are $27 for a basic facial, SALON | 2A

Clinton will still capture the nomination, some say she is failing to respond effectively to Sanders, fueling both his primary rise and strengthening the Republican argument against her. Others say she got too a late of a start going after Sanders and is still not hitting him enough — eroding her lead in states that should be safe. “They didn’t take him seriously enough because they thought they had a gadfly,”

said John Morgan, a Florida attorney and Clinton donor. “The gadfly wasn’t a gadfly — he was a lightning bug. And people have been following that lightning bug all over America.” Though Sanders has dismissed questions about Clinton’s use of a private email account and server as secretary of state and how she responded to the deadly 2012 Benghazi attacks, some Democrats say she

needs a better response to his critique of her ties to Wall Street, which they argue reinforces months of Republican attacks on her character. “The better she does, the more those stories seem to recede in the minds of voters,” said Boston-based Democratic strategist Mary Anne Marsh. “Now, Benghazi seems to be back. Email seems to be back. A number of other things seem to be back.”
