Diggin Pink event held in LaMoille LAMOILLE — In conjunction with hosting of the Bureau Valley Elementary Conference tournament this past week, Allen Junior High School in LaMoille hosted a Diggin Pink event with proceeds to benefit some very worthy charities, including Sideout Foundation, Moments in Kewanee, Rally for Lily, Cora Peters family and a local person battling cancer. Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton provided information and a basket raffle for the event. The teams purchased tournament T-shirts that listed all of the nine participating teams, including Bradford, Bureau Valley South, Bureau Valley North, DePue, Ladd, Ohio, Neponset, Malden and the host Lady Cubs of Allen Junior High School. In addition, teams brought team baskets that were raffled off with the purchase of raffle tickets. In addition to
the team baskets, donations were received from the Prime Quarter, Rosati’s in Mendota, Wyaton Hills Golf Course in Princeton, 31 consultant Lori Fry of LaMoille, Locker Room in Spring Valley and Green River Oaks Camping Resort in Amboy. A 50/50 raffle was conducted the length of the tournament. Sally Shipp of Wyanet won the 50/50. A total of $900 was raised and disbursed to the various charities. “Cancer affects each and every family,” said coach Holli Rapp, eighth-grade AJHS volleyball coach and event organizer. “Cancer doesn’t discriminate and each one of our conference teams has had someone affected by some form of cancer. We appreciate the teams, coaches, parents, communities and administration who helped support this event.”
