Who owns this building? Historic building could be demolished By Goldie Currie gcurrie@bcrnews.com
NEPONSET — A large, dilapidated brick building on the main drag in downtown Neponset has village officials searching
for the owner of the structure. The building, which is located on the east end — the south side of Commercial Street, is crumbling and has become a hazard for residents walking near the property.
Earlier this year, village officials secured the area with barricades and began a search for who was responsible for the building. Karen Ingles, Neponset Village Clerk, said the village attorney did locate the company who last purchased the building, however, she further discovered the company has since dissolved and
additional information on who might have taken over ownership has yet to be uncovered. Ingles confirmed in August, the county put the building up for auction for taxes but received no bidders. “Several people looked at it, but after going in there and taking a look around, they said there was just nothing in there

trimmings, and (we) work hard to be able to do so,” Martin said. Martin explained the Thanksgiving baskets are especially important because they help people put their struggles aside for one wholesome holiday meal. “Our patrons are struggling to feed their families every day — and most particularly on holidays. What a joy it is to give them a wonderful meal to take their minds off of their problems,” Martin said. The Hall Township Food Pantry is simply working
to provide patrons with a helping hand when they need it, Martin said. “Luckily we have a giving community that helps neighbors in need,” she said. Martin said it is thanks to the giving community that programs such as Second Helpings was made possible. Second Helpings, a newer program, has allowed families with children to shop at the pantry twice a month throughout the summer. The pantry also has Santa’s Workshop, open Dec. 13 at Ladd Grade School. Parents looking for help with Christmas gifts this season can sign up at the
