WORKFORCE ACADEMY BUILDING FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS
The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing its partnership with Bolingbrook High School’s Cooperative Work Training (CWT) program for our enhanced education program called Workforce Academy. The intent of the partnership is to create a vibrant, quality workforce that will be impactful for Bolingbrook businesses and the community once the students graduate. With the help of business owners, general managers and executives from the Bolingbrook area, Workforce Academy brings these volunteers into the classroom to help students develop workplace strengths and leadership skills through interactive presentations and firsthand accounts. and life potential, courtesy of the Bolingbrook business community. It is our hope, that through this program, we prepare students for careers and further development in the community for the rest of their lives. When Workforce Academy is in session, business leaders go into the classrooms to reinforce skills needed for success in the working world. CWT students are seniors who are employed or must be employed to stay in the program. They have early release which allows them to have part-time jobs. In the fall, business-related soft skills are covered while in the spring the focus is on successful postgraduation employment and training. Semester topics include customer service, appropriate social media profiles, resume writing, successful interviewing, apprenticeships and internships. The BACC is grateful for the support of the CWT teachers and our business leaders who make time to be volunteer presenters.
