A LETTER FROM OUR CEO

As we prepare to host our 31st Annual Children’s Fund Golf Classic, I can’t help but reflect on the journey. Children’s Fund has experienced so much growth over the past 30-plus years to become a leading child-serving organization in our County, and we didn’t do it alone. It was because of caring, passionate, and vested community members like you who have supported our mission: Giving our vulnerable children Support, Opportunity, and Hope by breaking destructive cycles through community partnerships. Because of you and our hundreds of supporters, Children’s Fund was able to provide over 90,000 services to children experiencing poverty, abuse, and neglect this past year. I know firsthand what it’s like to experience crises as a child: not knowing where your next plate of food will be coming from, not knowing where you will sleep at night, not knowing if today was the day that you will be rescued from an abusive home. There are thousands of kids out there who need a Champion to speak up for them, a Champion to give them Support, Opportunity, and Hope. Because of donors like you, Children’s Fund is that Champion. Help us change the life of a child; help us provide them the support, opportunity, and hope they need to change the trajectory of their life so that one day, they too will give back to help the next generation. Please consider being part of this movement to create a bright future for every child. No child should ever feel unseen, unheard, or unwanted. Thank you for considering becoming a 2024 Children’s Fund Golf Classic Sponsor. Cesar Navarrete President & CEO, Children’s Fund

It was announced in 2017, at the 25th anniversary, that the golf tournament would move forward as the Children’s Fund Golf Classic. As we continue A. Gary Anderson’s legacy and enter our 31st year, the Children’s Fund Golf Classic has been instrumental in raising nearly $9 million towards our mission of providing Support, Opportunity, and Hope to children we serve. Redlands Country Club Established in 1896, Redlands Country Club is the oldest member owned country club in the West and home to a beautiful 18-hole PGA Championship golf course, considered by many to be one of the finest in Southern California. This year, it will be home to our 31st Annual Children’s Fund Golf Classic. Nestled below the San Bernardino Mountains, this course offers stunning views, stately trees, and perfectly manicured greens that make this course a delight to play and is sure to give our golfers a day to remember.

INTRODUCTION

Children’s Fund Golf Classic The Children’s Fund Golf Classic began in 1992 as the A. Gary Anderson Memorial Golf Classic. During his lifetime, A. Gary Anderson made an indelible impression on the inland region, both as a dedicated professional in the business arena and as a generous humanitarian in the surrounding communities. To honor their father’s legacy, A. Gary Anderson’s children, Erik and Erin, established this premier tournament, benefitting Children’s Fund.

Children’s Fund’s Mission is giving our vulnerable children Support, Opportunity, and Hope by breaking destructive cycles through community partnerships. Children’s Fund operates under 3 Pillars: Support, Opportunity, and Hope. Support Through our Support pillar, we provide the services that our children and youth require to meet their basic needs and create stability: our emergency needs program, educational support program, annual family fair, and the attentive care provided at the Children’s Assessment Center. Opportunity Each year, Children’s Fund offers opportunities that children need to meet and exceed their potential. These opportunities focus on breaking the cycle of poverty and offer enriching activities and educational options. The Opportunity pillar consists of post-secondary educational scholarships, sports and extracurricular scholarships, computer camp, summer camp, life enrichment, the sports faire, and the speakers bureau. Hope Our final pillar, Hope, allows us to inspire, challenge, and motivate our children to dream. We do this through our Celebration of Giving and birthday gifts annual campaign, and by being there to celebrate our children’s life’s milestones like graduation, entering post-secondary education, and adoption. A meaningful gift can mean the world to a child and nurture their hope so that they can continue to dream and work towards a brighter future.

THE 3 PILLARS

2022-2023 Fiscal Year

In response to the need, a group of influential county, business, and community leaders, led by the late Jack H. Brown, Judge Patrick J. Morris, and the late A. Gary Anderson came together to seek solutions. In collaboration with the County of San Bernardino, it became apparent that a non-profit organization could leverage private investment and connect resources directly to children, reaching every area of our 20,000 square mile county. A unique and invaluable partnership was formed to create Children’s Fund, which stands firm today. For over 37 years, Children’s Fund has continued to deepen its strong relationship with the County of San Bernardino as a model of how private and public entities can effectively work together to support and assist our community’s at-risk and often disenfranchised children. By utilizing this partnership with the county and a strategic network of other community resource organizations, Children’s Fund has remained efficient and responsive, so it can quickly deploy aid to meet specific needs when identified. Since its inception, Children’s Fund has helped more than 1.75 million children in this region.

Jack H. Brown “Our dream for Children’s Fund was to reach out to children at-risk. With the blessings of Our “Maker” we continue to reach.”

A. Gary Anderson Gary’s leadership legacy is seen today in the standards he set for giving, involvement by community leaders, and the organization’s ability to meet any challenge.

The Honorable Patrick J. Morris “It is all about publicprivate collaboration. Children’s Fund uniquely brings forward business leaders to help lead the crusade to serve at-risk children.”

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS

Children’s Fund began in 1986 with the belief that all children deserve to grow without fear, trusting they will be cared for, and their needs met. Children who have experienced abuse or extreme poverty, who cannot defend or care for themselves, are often the most vulnerable to “fall between the cracks” and be forgotten. By intervening, the most straightforward act of assistance may help prevent a lifetime of pain and negative outcomes.

FOUNDERS AWARDEES

The Children’s Fund Founders’ Award is an annual award given at the Children’s Fund Golf Classic. The Children’s Fund Founders’ Award recognizes individuals, companies, and organizations who embody the spirit and mission upon which Children’s Fund was founded. This award allows us to honor those who are making futures brighter for the children in our community. This year, Children’s Fund is proud to be honoring Vaughn Bryan. Vaughn has supported Children’s Fund since the beginning as a board member, as Board Chairman in 1996, volunteer, generous donor, and advocate. Vaughn has created a legacy of leadership through his daughter Kristin Pierce, current Children’s Fund Board Chair and Golf Committee Chair. We thank Vaughn for his decades of commitment! Help us celebrate Vaughn Bryan at this year’s Founder’s Award Banquet. Vaughn Bryan Children’s Fund Board Chair 1996-1997
