Changing Futures
SUMMER 2021
A quarterly publication of Children’s Fund
During the pandemic, Jamie Griffin, a local nurse, and her family suffered a series of tragic and unfortunate events that pushed them into a financial deficit. Children’s Fund was there to help.
Family Sees a Brighter Future The past year has been hard on everyone—families already struggling pre-pandemic, children learning from home, and even stable, working professionals. The hardships due to economic stress, health concerns, and even the loss of those close to them have taken a toll.
Mrs. Griffin is one of many hard-working heroic nurses that have served their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when this job may be at its most stressful, she sadly lost the father of her children. As if this was not enough to put strain on her and her family, her mother came down with a medical condition that requires the home to be at a constant, low, and tolerable temperature. This caused Mrs. Griffin’s utility bills to skyrocket at a time when her financial support had diminished.
With two children and a growing pile of bills, Mrs. Griffin turned to one of Children’s Fund’s Resource Agencies, The Making A Difference Association. They were able to link her with our Emergency Needs Program.
