The team will consist of 6 players plus two substitutes. There will also be a Coach and a Referee from each nation.

The uniform can be the traditional Lajna uniform: - white shalwar kameez or long white shirt with trousers (e.g. jogging bottoms), or else it can be in the colours of one’s national flag. Referees should wear all black outfits and Coaches should wear all white. It is recommended that all players wear knee pads to avoid injury.

Accommodation will be in the Noor Hall within the Baitul Futuh complex. It will be provided from Friday 10th April up till Sunday 12th April.

The Coach will conduct the play of her team from outside the playing court. She will select the line ups, all substitutes and make the decision for Time Out.

The Team Captain represents her team in the toss. During the match only the Captain is authorized to speak to the referees. The Team Captain is responsible for leading her team to greet the other team, this will be at the beginning of each match as well as at the completion of the match where both teams are to line up and shake their opponent’s hand.


A Mikasa volleyball will be used for each game

The indoor courts are 18 m x 9 m The indoor court also includes an attack area designated by a line 3 m back from the center line.

The height of the Net for women is 2.24 m.

The winner of the toss chooses either to deliver the serve to or to receive the serve or chooses the side of the Court.

Prior to the match start a ten minutes warm up period is allowed on the Court. If teams wish for a separate warm up they are allowed 5 minutes on the Court.

Each team may request a maximum of 2 Time Outs per match. Each team may make 2 substitutions per match.

There will be 2 referees and 4 line Judges for the duration of each match

The Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact. The ball may be served underhand or overhand. The ball must be clearly visible to opponents before the serve. The served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for a point. First game serve is determined by a volley, each subsequent game shall be served by the previous game loser. The serve must be returned by a bump only, no setting or attacking on a serve.

Rally scoring will be used. There will be a point scored on every score of the ball. Offense will score on a defense miss or an out of bounds hit. The game will be played to 25 points. Winning team must win by 2 points.

Team will rotate each time they win the serve. Players shall rotate in a clockwise manner.

Maximum of 3 hits per side. Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit). Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a serve. A ball touching a boundary line is good. A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player’s body above and including the waist which does not allow the ball to visibly come to a rest. If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play. A player must not block or attack a serve. Switching positions allowed only between front line players (After the serve only).

Stepping on or over the line on a serve. Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully. Hitting the ball illegally (Carrying, Palming, Throwing, etc.). Touching of the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play (However, if the ball is driven into the net with such force that it causes the net to contact an opposing player, no foul will be called, and the ball shall continue to be in play). Reaching over the net, except under the following conditions: a) When executing a follow-through. b) When blocking a ball within the opponent’s court but is being returned, (here the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact.) except to block the third play. Reaching under the net (if it interferes with the ball or opposing player). Failure to serve in the correct order. Blocks or spikes from a position which is clearly not behind the 10 foot line while in a back row position.
