CONCEPT:

Re-activate vacated urban interiors of a “typical” high-rise structure into forward-thinking mixed-use vertical villages of the future. Generate optimistic spatial conditions that address the emerging issues and needs we are facing today, such as housing, climate, health & wellness, social equity, civic engagement, and education.

The amenity chosen to do a detailed design on was a Library. Books and stories have continued to be an important aspect in everyday life, and with the rise of the utilization of technology, it’s important to keep these environments as an emphasis. In order to draw people in, it’s been given a dynamic storytelling aspect to mimic and relate to the stories the space is surrounded by, to inspire and capture the historical, mystical, and alluring aspects of many novels.

CONCEPT:

While understanding both macro and micro scales, the goal is to redesign an underutilized space in the Walnut Hill reservoir. One where a very impactful space used to rest is now a gated area in the middle of a community. As designers, we strive towards bringing people together through the opportunities a space may provide. How may we start to do that in a new way while also respecting what has previously existed?

STARTED HOW IT

Project interiors were based on sections. Since we wanted to depict the erosive effect of the back side of the basin by excavating it, the direction from the section view is based on the archaeological component of stratigraphy.
