This is our day!

Let’s seize it together. At San Francisco Day School, we believe that when intellect and imagination are intertwined, students delight in the discovery of connection: in their academic and creative pursuits, in their relationships, and in all that they experience here. Every day, we help our students emerge as flexible, resourceful learners. Because when we do, our students light up with the call and capacity to take on the complexities of their day and of a diverse world.

This is our home.

We are a community committed to the belief that education works best when students’ hearts, minds, and bodies are in the work. Our students are joyful, expressive learners. Evidence of this exuberance is everywhere—our bustling hallways are used for small-group collaboration, our walls are bursting with art and projects, and our gym, library, and cafeteria are filled day and night with students practicing and performing what they’re learning. We love that SF Day is a vibrant, energetic environment that feels like home. We also know that we must invest in space that allows our students to grow.

This is who we are.

We are spilling out of the art studios— materials for 400 students require a lot of space. I am looking forward to efficient, accessible spaces that will give us room to collaborate more with other teachers. —KAREN RICHARDS, ART TEACHER

A Commitment to Performing Arts

We believe experimenting and evolving in front of a supportive, accepting community builds confident learners. Performing arts is a highlight of our distinctive academic program. Our soirées, plays, jazz band, and curricular showcases give our students the opportunity to celebrate the skills they hone all year. Today, the gym, cafeteria, and library all stand in for a stage, disrupting scheduled classes and athletics. With a new 2,800 square foot auditorium, our students will finally have the space their talents deserve.

An Investment in Creativity and Innovative Expression

SF Day offers one of the finest visual arts programs in the city. Year round, students are exposed to artists from various cultures, countries, and visual mediums. Staffed with working artists, the art department faculty challenge and inspire our children to think of themselves as artists and innovators. By nurturing their creative skills, we prepare our students to be problem solvers adept at self-expression in an ever-changing world.

The quality and ambition of our program is not matched by its current spaces. Our new 2,500 square foot Arts & Innovation Lab will allow students to explore the powerful connection between innovation and creativity.

An Expansion of Green Space

As a school in and of this dynamic city, we understand the importance of green space for our students. Right now much of that experience happens away from school, whether in Pt. Reyes or in the church garden across the street. We have the opportunity now to improve and dramatically expand our outdoor spaces on campus. We will also renovate the lower school playground so our youngest learners have a more robust environment for outdoor exploration. Our new 3,000 square foot rooftop garden will explore the intersection of science and horticulture, ecology and engineering, and sustainability and sunshine for students at every grade level.

This is what we believe.

SF Day depends on the philanthropy of its community to maintain the high caliber and distinctiveness of its program. We need everyone’s help making this exciting, much-needed next step happen for SF Day. —JESSICA MOMENT, CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR

We have always been a school that embraces innovative approaches to learning within a diverse and inclusive community. These values require regular nurturing, creative solutions, and constant investment.

Investing in Our Teachers

Our teachers are essential to the quality of the learning experience, yet the high cost of housing makes it difficult for them to live here. While we continue to provide competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth, we want to do more. Our new faculty residence is a modest yet significant step forward. Most importantly, it helps ensure SF Day students continue to benefit from the incredible approaches, perspectives, and experience our teachers bring.

Investing in Diversity and Inclusion

We know that children learn best in a diverse and inclusive environment. When SF Day students encounter a range of perspectives, they learn to challenge their own assumptions, collaborate with others who have experiences different than their own, and gain the skills necessary to thrive in our world. To ensure that this education remains attainable for many, the school has a robust Discounted Tuition program that depends on the philanthropy of our community.

SF Day teachers are devoted to supporting our students. Every day, we encourage them to learn that even their wildest aspirations are possible. —LOREN MOYÉ DEAN OF FACULTY; DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION CO-CHAIR

This takes all of us. This is an exciting opportunity to increase the impact of our program and to improve the experience of students and teachers. —WENDY HOLCOMBE, CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR

San Francisco Day School is here today because of the families and educators who partnered to carry the school forward over the years. They invested in 350 Masonic and turned it into the school we’ve come to love. They created a library, added a gym, and improved our cafeteria. They built an endowment to support and sustain the people and programs that bring our building to life. They purchased the properties next door with us in mind. Our community built this school, and now it is our turn to carry it forward. With your support, the Campaign for San Francisco Day School will allow us to create spaces that match the caliber of our programs and inspire the innate curiosity of our students. The time is now.

Let’s do this.
