Barry Berman is the founder of two pet industry businesses which were startups in the 2000’s, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals Pet Food/RawTernative and the NexPet Retailer Group. By 2023, the brands were among the top 30 sellers in the US; that year Barry sold a majority interest to a PE group that is using the companies as a platform for adding acquisitions. Since mid-2024 Barry has been helping a CEO successor, and will step down completely in early 2025. His next startup venture is the non-profit IndieClime—Independent Business Sustainability Initiative.
Barry began his career as the as the third-generation leader of a large flooring distributor & carpet manufacturing company, at which, after 70 years of family ownership, he led the group’s exit shortly before his 40th birthday. Between his stints in carpeting and pet food, Barry served as CEO of a subsidiary
of Brinks Inc. (NYSE=BCO) dealing with worldwide transportation and insurance of diamonds & jewelry and as President of an $80m distribution subsidiary of Central Garden and Pet (NASDAQ=CENT).
Barry also formerly served as Professor of Design Marketing at Parsons School of Design, teaching both BBA and BFA students. He is a past Board Chair of the World Pet Association and has been on the board of Parent-Child+ for 22 years.

Phil Bradley is the President and CFO of Niles Enterprises, a Michigan-based family office and general partner investing in the industrial contracting space. Niles Enterprises operates companies specializing in industrial asset restoration, including coatings, roofing, scaffolding, and insulation. As head of the family office, Mr. Bradley leads investment strategy and corporate development, overseeing investments in private equity, commercial and industrial real estate, and other ventures where Niles can add strategic value based on their operating company experiences.
Before joining Niles in 2020, Mr. Bradley served as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Clark Group in Bethesda, Maryland, where he managed corporate finance for Clark’s construction management, vertical construction, specialty services, and real estate development subsidiaries. His educational background includes a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University, where he was a member of the Men’s Track and Field team, and both an M.S. in Finance and an MBA from The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.
A native of Bethesda, Maryland, Mr. Bradley currently resides near Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his wife, three sons, and two

Ira Bryck helps leaders grow. He founded (and ran, for 25 years) the UMass Family Business Center, that provided expert and peer learning through forums, workshops, consulting, and roundtables. Ira is the author of three plays about life in family business, presented as “edutainment” at conferences worldwide. His third play, A Tough Nut to Crack, is based on his years in his family's 4th generation childrenswear business. For several years he started and hosted The Western Mass Business Show on WHMP, interviewing some 350 entrepreneurs. He has created training exercises that combine strategic questioning, peer learning, and role play that assists entrepreneurs in finding new solutions.

As a family advisor and coach, Chris offers a breadth and depth of experience that ties together qualitative and quantitative family planning. Having previously been a Catholic monk and priest, strategy consultant, and administrator, his experience offers him insight into each aspect of the three-circle model of family governance, namely as a family member, owner, and manager. As a family member, he learned the complexities of system dynamics while living within a Benedictine monastery.
