Charley is the manager of the “The Rooftop Bar and Restaurant” A great place for a view of the city. He loves living in Charleston.

And after seven months of some strenuous training, I graduated earlier this month from the Washington State Explorer Search & Rescue program. I also had my first mission last weekend, rescuing an avalanche victim from Granite Mountain!”

Carl Hoff received the degree of Master of Education from the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in May, 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. He majored in Leadership, Policy and Organization, and works as a graduate assistant with the Hubert H. Humphrey International Fellowship Program. Carl received the degree of Bachelor of Science, also from the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in 2008. His undergraduate majors were in History and in Secondary Education. Maura Olcese qualified for and ran in the 2010 Boston Marathon in April completing the race in 3:29.01. This was her third marathon and the second time for Boston. In addition to competing in marathons and triathlons, she is working at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. h Jack Rosson made several life-changing decisions this winter. In January he married his college sweetheart Kate Wells in Kate’s hometown of Poland, Ohio. Several Severn alums were on hand including Ryan Brassel, Drew McCarl and Brook Bolger ’04. Dennis Rosson ’07 was the best man while his brother Louis ’10 and sister Lainey ’08 served as attendants. In March, Jack entered Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, TX for basic training. Upon completion in May, he was awarded the prestigious Top Airman Award out of 778 recruits. He is currently training for a career in Cyber Transport Systems at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. He will deploy, troubleshoot and repair voice, data and video network infrastructures systems, IP detection systems and cryptographic equipment. Jack will complete the program within 9 to 12 months at which time he will be assigned his first tour of duty. h Ryan Blackburn graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Math and was commissioned an Ensign
in the United States Navy by his proud Dad! Ryan spent the summer working in the NROTC unit at Virginia Tech improving his golf game, sailing, and enjoying life in general. In August with Mom & Dad’s help, he purchased his first house (two story, 1,824 sq ft brand new) in Pensacola, Florida. He then reported to Navy Flight School at the end of August. He has continued to volunteer at the local high school tutoring students in math. After teaching sailing every summer and substituting at Mom’s school during his college vacations, Ryan fell in love with teaching. Deep down he really wants to be a math teacher but Mom won’t let him! Right now he wants to make the Navy & flying jets a career.
