Every year, in tribute to David Astle '92, Severn hosts a speaker to inspire and motivate its students. All our speakers have been esteemed alumni, and this year, we had the privilege of welcoming American cinematographer and director Caleb Deschanel '62. Mr. Deschanel shared insights into his journey into the industry and elucidated the meticulous craft behind many iconic shots in films we cherish today.
Spring Showcase is designed as a low-tech, small-scale studio theatre performance focusing specifically on the work and skills of actors. This year's Showcase featured 4 actors; Ethan Cooke, Sofia Moss, Hadley Nicoll, and Madeline Ortiz presenting three plays. Each play was 10 minutes long and focused on a different style of comedy.
This year, we had the privilege of hosting a visiting fine artist who assisted us in designing a beautiful mural behind the art rooms. During Leigh Pawlings' visit, she graciously dedicated some time to judging the submissions for our juried art show. It was a delight to witness the diverse artworks created by our students from all art classes.

Prom at the Graduate Hotel in Annapolis was a hit for the classes of '24 and '25. The Hollywood theme added extra fun, especially with the photo booth decked out in Hollywood style. It was a night of laughter and memories that everyone will treasure.
On their last day of school, the seniors proudly wore T-shirts showcasing their future college destinations. They spent the day reviewing each other's ISP presentations and reflecting on their year together. Lower School students visited to offer advice for the future, with kindergartners and first graders each writing heartfelt letters to a senior. The day concluded with an academic awards presentation, and the seniors exited Severn for the final time, passing through a line of hugs from their teachers and fellow students.
The Van Eney Fellows projects are another aspect of our Severn culture that makes it unique. These projects give a select group of Senior students the tools to pursue their passion and make the world a better pace. Spanning many subjects, these projects are always a blast to watch come to life!

Congratulations, seniors – the world is yours!
As the 2023-24 school year comes to a close lets take a moment to recognize the hard work and many hours that your yearbook staff has spent working on this years edition of The Navigator. This year we chose to illustrate a nautical theme to represent Severn's history on the Severn River.
Endless effort has gone into documenting all of our memories this year and it would not have been possible without the help of every member of this staff. Additionally the help of anyone who played a role in capturing pictures of school events, sports, concerts and so much more. We would not have been able to do this without you.
This year we had one of the largest yearbook staffs yet, with 15 students making up the staff. 3 seniors, 9 juniors, and 3 sophomores. Every member played a key role in composing this year's yearbook.
Paige: I don't even know where to begin. This yearbook truly would not have been what it was without your artistic talents. I don't think many people outside of this class know just how much time you spent on the cover and artwork for this yearbook. Every little piece turned out perfect and turned this yearbook into the master piece it became. Thank you for begin my co-editor throughout the year!
Grace, Ryleigh, McKenna M., McKenna K: the middle school would not have been possible without you 4. between trips up to the middle school yearbook elective and capturing all their events and clubs you were always kept busy. thank you for taking up the job and completing our first edition of a The Skipper.
Suzy and Soph: you two always worked so well together to design engaging pages that fir the theme. you both were always eager to sort through pictures and edit pages, and yearbook owes you guys a huge hank you!
Sadie: our 3rd editor. thank you for pouring so much time and energy into this yearbook. there is no way we would have completed it without all of your help.
Bella: thank you for taking on the job of tagging all of the pictures. definitely not an easy of fun job but you stepped up and got it done.
Sophia and Becca: our design and layout team. we could always rely on you two to crank out a page that not many people wanted to do. i loved getting to see the creativity and art put into each of your pages.
Annie:you worked so so hard on every page you were given this year. whether it was the teacher then and now or other tasks throughout the year you were always working your absolute hardest..
