City of Akron American Rescue Plan Act

Summit Lake Vision Plan Announcement

On November 17, the City of Akron announced $2 million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funding for the Akron Civic Commons 2.0, Summit Lake Vision Plan. The $2 million dollar contribution brings the total City of Akron commitment to $5 million and enables Phase I and Phase II of the Akron Civic Commons 2.0 Summit Lake Vision Plan to move forward. The 2.25 Ohio & Erie Canal Summit Lake Trail is in final design with the goal of being bid in the 1st quarter of 2022 and the Summit Lake NorthShore Park design plan will be starting in 2022. Akron Civic Commons 2.0, Summit Lake Vision Plan is a resident-led community partnership project with the City of Akron and Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.

What is a Community Land Plan? Definition: A document designed to guide the future actions of a community. How is a Land Use Plan used? It presents a vision for the future, with long-term goals and objectives for all activities that affect the local government. Usually looks 10 - 20 years in the future.
