Daily Feelings Check In

Teacher Implementation Guide

Daily Feelings Check In provides teachers with the opportunity to their students each day. This collection also provides students with different ways to express their feelings whether that be through drawing, writing, speaking, or more. Teachers have the ability to use these check in activities to provide students with extra support, build meaningful routines and provide students with a necessary outlet. Best Practices

Morning Routine: Check In activities are designed to be completed independently by students for 5 minutes at the beginning of the day. Integrating check ins into morning routines allows teachers to provide timely targeted support for any students who need it.

Expression: Students process and share their feelings differently, and teachers should expect to receive a wide range of responses. The advantage of completing Feelings Check In activities on a regular basis is that teachers may be able to ascertain patterns in their students’ feelings that can further inform how they can support their students.

Creating Classroom Culture helps to foster a positive clas community that values teamwork, understanding, and inclu weeks of school. Ice Breakers, Collaborative Protocols, and Community Builders invite students to collaboratively share ideas, discover shared interests, and build respectful relationships.

Best Practices

Foster strong relationships: Fun, multimodal activities help students get to know each other on- and offline. These lessons create a relaxed and inclusive environment, allowing students to form connections and discover shared interests. Use throughout the year to reinforce powerful relationships!

Promote collaboration and respect: Encourage a collaborative and respectful classroom culture with these ready-to-go activities. Students work together, share ideas, and solve problems collaboratively.

Encourage active participation: Ensure all students have an opportunity to engage and share about themselves using the Seesaw Creative Tools. These lessons can be taught in any order and revised throughout the school year to reinforce relationships and create a strong classroom community.

Teacher Implementation Guide Careers in Computer Science

Through this engaging collection, students will be introduced to fas through computer science. Students will discover the ins and outs of different computer science careers through informational texts! Within these texts students will uncover facts and build on their knowledge with text features like images, captions, timelines and glossaries.

Allocating Time: These lessons are intended to be completed over the span of a few days. Allowing time to build on knowledge and applying that knowledge throughout the various activities Best Practices

Discussion Questions: As you read the informational text, you will see yellow boxes that allow students to stop and reflect. Use these questions as discussion opportunities, where students can reflect amongst one another and share their insights in relation to the topic!

Review: Many important informational text features are embedded within the text. Students can use these features to reflect on their learning.

What's My Job?

Teacher Implementation Guide

What’s My Job allows students to become powerful readers of by immersing themselves in the story of a real person in an exciting 21st century career. Students make connections to what they are reading and experiencing in the text right on the page by using Seesaw’s multimodal learning tools. Students conduct investigations, build critical background knowledge and make connections between the academic skills they are learning in school and how those skills are used in real world jobs. Best Practices

Learning Journey: Each e-book is intended to be an immersive learning journey in which students can spend several days diving into different elements of each highlighted job. Align these activities with units of study, or assign as a project- based learning opportunity in order to give students the full interactive experience of each highlighted job.

2nd Grade: Read the book out loud whole class and work with students either whole class, in small groups or independently to complete the activities.

3rd- 5th Grade: Introduce the lesson whole class with the audio clues on page 3 and then assign the activities for independent practice, small groups or partner-work.

Teacher Implementation Guide Instructional Templates

Encourage student creativity and communication with open-ended ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computer Science, and Behavioral Reflection Instructional Templates. Teachers can customize these templates to target specific standards before assigning to students to practice, apply, and demonstrate their learning. Instructional Templates allow for easy differentiation as students choose how to complete them.

Best Practices

Customize for your classroom: Choose a subject area and focus topic template. Add a specific number, vocabulary word, book, topic, strategy, or problem for students to engage with.

Foster student independence: Model how to complete new templates with the whole class or small group prior to assigning to students for independent work. Encourage students to use multiple tools to explain their thinking.

Build formative assessment routines: Customize and assign templates to support student reflection and demonstration of knowledge as daily checks for understanding, end of unit review, or center activities.

Digital Leadership With Bean is an interactive, hands-on collectio the skills to become responsible digital leaders. Students jump into Bean s life and explore real-world choices that show students how to be safe, balance screen time, prevent cyberbullying, and much more. Students use their prior knowledge and diverse experiences to apply these digital leadership skills to their own lives.

Best Practices

Instructional Format: Lessons teach students the foundational skills of digital leadership and may be taught in any order. Activities, designed to scaffold independent work and assess student learning, include whole-group discussion and partner work.

Provide Choices: Each lesson provides students with developmentally appropriate opportunities to practice their digital leadership skills. Students choose between safe and unsafe choices that allow them to reflect on their experiences and impact in the digital world. After students complete a lesson, students earn a digital leadership badge!

Reflect: There are no wrong answers. If students do not make the safe choice, they have the opportunity to try again and reflect on their learning to become responsible digital leaders.

The Digital Leaders collection empowers students to engage in the d responsibly. Students jump into seven diverse superheroes' lives through a graphic novel experience to explore real-world choices that build students' leadership skills, and teach them how to keep themselves, their personal information, friendships, and digital footprint safe. Best Practices

Whole Group: Students read the graphic novel and discuss as a class. Teachers can use this time as an opportunity to discuss the outcome of various choices and the implications of each choice.

Review: Use the posters as anchor charts within the classroom to reinforce digital safety each time students are using their devices.

Home: Digital safety does not stop in the classroom. Share family engagement resources to help reinforce digital leadership concepts at home and ensure students are being safe and responsible in any setting.

Students skills to create interactive maps, book covers, animal adaptations, and more across more than 20 CSTA-aligned lessons. Students will use the Seesaw canvas to interact with different coding concepts, and then drive their understanding home by coding inside of Code.org's Sprite Lab!

Artifacts of learning: Engage students in rich discussion in Seesaw before coding on Code.org. Students can reflect on their coding experiences and show what they know about coding and math inside of Seesaw.

Personally authentic: Encourage students to integrate their interests, culture, and the world around them into independent and partner activities. Seesaw’s multimodal tools and creative canvas make it easy for students to reflect and share their projects.
