Remaining Flexible While Rebuilding
from Spire: Fall 2023
A CENTERPOINT COUNSELING UPDATE
They say that the one thing you can always count on is “change.” Change, also normally met with mixed emotions, makes it difficult to remain flexible at times. Then, rebuilding introduces a new round of reactions.
In the winter of 2018, CenterPoint Counseling embarked on a renovation of the space, including the addition of three new offices and a new waiting room/reception area. During the renovation, therapists relocated to other areas within the building to meet with clients. They were thankful for the flexibility of the staff, the understanding of clients, and the hospitality of Second as they occupied other spaces of the church. In March of 2019, CenterPoint returned to a beautifully expanded, updated, and rebuilt space. A time for excitement and celebration!

Hello March 2020, in which the entire world experienced drastic changes due to the Covid pandemic. A new reality for everyone with lock downs and closures. CenterPoint staff quickly adjusted to this reality and began conducting telehealth appointments with clients. Over time, further changes presented a time of uncertainty and anxiety. However, as CenterPoint slowly returned to their offices, there was another opportunity to remain flexible while rebuilding the “new normal.”
Then, unfortunately and unexpectedly for CenterPoint Counseling (and other areas of the church), Christmas Eve 2022 granted an alternative reason for provisions. Due to a burst pipe from the HVAC system on the roof, a good portion of CenterPoint flooded. This resulted in many months of the loss of offices and the inviting atmosphere CenterPoint presented. Restoration of the space has been a slow, trying process. CenterPoint would like to thank all those involved in making this happen and especially thank their staff and clients for the grace, patience and flexibility extended during all the times of rebuilding. Thankfully, it appears the finish line is near for this most recent change. It will surely be a time of relief.
