Corelli Ensemble

Concert, 4pm, Sunday 29th March, Seaford Baptist Church, Belgrave Road, Seaford BN25 2EE.

The Corelli Ensemble is delighted to welcome world-famous recorder virtuoso, Piers Adams to Seaford on Sunday 29th March. Piers has performed to high acclaim internationally with his ensemble Red Priest, and during his career, has broadened the scope and range of the recorder, with the New York Times describing his playing as ‘dazzling, all-out virtuosity’. He will perform concertos by Sammartini, and a work specially composed for him by Lewes-based composer, Crispin Ward, called ‘A Celtic Concerto’.

This folk-inspired piece sets toe-tapping jigs and reels against sweeping laments, and ends in a swirling frenzy of Irish dance. Along side these two pieces, the Corelli Ensemble will perform Telemann’s resonant Concerto for Four Violins in D, and Elgar’s hauntingly beautiful Serenade for Strings. There will be refreshments after the concert and an opportunity to meet the performers. All profits from refreshments will be donated to Homelink. Tickets for these concerts can be pre-reserved at a special price of £12 through our website: corelliensemble.co.uk or purchased in advance from the Tourist Information Centre. Tickets also available on the door for £14. Children free. Photos from top: The Corelli Ensemble; Piers Adams.
