Seaford Rotary

Community Donations to Seaford Rotary Seaford Rotary would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who made donations to Seaford Rotary Charitable Trust in December. To date approximately £400 has been raised through several means of donation.

Each delivery was approximately double the normal weight as it included the main food deliveries to cover the whole of the Christmas period. This was the final delivery of the year and consisted of Christmas boxes of treats, toys, and a bag of fresh vegetables.

Seaford Rotary would like to thank all who generously supported us by making a Christmas donation, whether in the buckets by the tills in Sainsbury’s in Newhaven during December, by making a donation to Seaford Rotary by visiting the Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/ seafordsleigh, or directly to the Club. Seaford Rotary would also like to thank Gemma Polling and her family, from Princess Drive for setting up a GoFundMe page on Seaford Open Notice board on Facebook to raise money for Seaford Rotary Charitable Trust. Their target was exceeded by over 50%. Each year, her home in Princess Drive has had a light display, normally showing Santa waving to children as they passed by the house. This year, however, the family came up with the idea of Santa’s ‘NICE’ list, recognising that Seaford Rotary Club was not able to invite Santa to visit Seaford in December due to the Covid-19 restrictions. The display showed Santa and his elves preparing for Christmas, and on Christmas Eve flying on his sleigh through the night sky to deliver presents. Those parents who wished their child’s name to be included on the ‘NICE’ list were able to message Gemma Polling to include it on the display and were invited to donate through the GoFundMe page. Seaford Rotary is incredibly grateful for all the contributions, no matter the size. All donations will be put to good use for local charitable causes.

Seahaven Storehouse Foodbank Christmas Deliveries

Normally deliveries by Seaford Rotary for Seahaven Storehouse are made on Thursdays, but with Christmas

approaching it was necessary to increase the deliveries, and so Rotary drivers made Christmas deliveries in Seaford on Wednesday, and also on Thursday to the remaining families in the Havens.

in Seaford, some of the Christmas boxes were delivered by the Seaford Rotary Sleigh. The Sleigh was outside the Storehouse early in the morning and loaded with as many of the family Christmas boxes as possible. The fresh vegetables were delivered separately by Sophie, one of the Morrisons local Community champions, together with the remaining Christmas boxes. Seven Rotary drivers made the deliveries, some making multiple trips and by 3pm the task was completed. The efforts of the delivery drivers, the Storehouse team and those who donated throughout the troubled year of 2020 from the first lockdown in March have been amazing, heart-warming and demonstrate the best in humankind.

Over the Rainbow Walk Update

No sooner had we announced the launch of our Over the Rainbow Walk for the Mayor of Seaford’s Charities Initiative, than we went into a national lockdown in November. And here we are again with the same situation in January and February! The Over the Rainbow Walk along Seaford Seafront between Splash Point and the Yacht Club and back goes on but with a flexible date. Government restrictions which if continued into March may put our chosen time and date of the afternoon of Sunday March 21st 2021 at risk. Time will tell. Let’s be hopeful. Safety is our guiding principle for all planned events. Whenever it takes place, we look forward to you all being part of this Fun-raising Fundraiser. Together let us make the event a real Red-letter Day for Seaford. Planning continues. We are pleased and encouraged
