What is it with the British and their fixation with the weather?? I wrote the June article in May and the sun was shining - silly me thinking summer was to begin! As I now write this article on a wet gloomy day, the Kutlers are looking forward to the Portsmouth visit and seeing the newly finished and opened Mary Rose exhibition. Trust me – it will be a beautiful day. We go on the 6th June. Since my last article we refereed for the Seahaven Lionesses’ annual sports tournament on Saturday 18th May which took place at the Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford. The evening was really good, very well organised and a lot of fun. The winners were Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions club. The Lionesses were very generous and donated the money from the raffle to Seaford Kurlers and I thank them very much. I would also personally like to thank the Wave Leisure staff at The Downs for all their hard work in helping us to set the hall up at 7pm and then again they helped to clear it all away when the evening ended about 10pm. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they are such a cheerful lot. A number of visitors to the event were not familiar with New Age Kurling so were keen to know about the game. If you are curious, why not come along to the Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford and see what we do? We’re there every Tuesday from 2pm until 4pm with a break about half way. We also have an active social side the club. You will meet new people and also learn a sport that is able to be enjoyed by people of varying levels of mobility. We are also a branch of ESDA (East Sussex Disability Association). Seaford Kurlers, contact is Mrs June Wood, 7 Landsdown Road, Seaford, BN25 3JS or email sally1989@tiscali.co.uk.
