POSITIVE THINKING DAY IS OBSERVED EVERY YEAR ON SEPTEMBER 13

Keep on reading to find out all the important information about Positive Thinking Day at a glance, including its big picture, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.

THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT POSITIVE THINKING DAY AT A GLANCE

1) The big picture: As the name suggests, Positive is a whole day devoted to having a positive outlook on life – to be thankful and spread kindness. There are a lot of people who tend to focus on the negative rather than the positive, but this day is the perfect time to banish those negative thoughts and live your life to the fullest!

2) Why it is important: Positive thinking has been proven to have numerous health and wellbeing benefits from boosting your mood and increasing productivity to reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Positive thinking can even boost your immune system. Focusing on positive outcomes can also boost your resilience, allowing you to see setbacks as opportunities rather than failures. Traditionally, the primary focus of psychology has been to relieve human suffering. But, with the emergence of positive psychology, we can learn to thrive rather than simply survive.

3) How you can get involved: There are many ways you can get involved in Positive Thinking Day including writing down positive affirmations and practicing gratitude to treating yourself or someone else to something nice like a spa day or a fancy meal out. You can also celebrate the day by spreading positivity through your social media channels using the hashtag #PositiveThinkingDay, or even organizing a positive-themed event or party with no negativity allowed!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF POSITIVE THINKING DAY

When was this event established: Positive Thinking Day was founded in 2003 by an American entrepreneur to set aside negativity and practice positive thinking. This day was designed to remind us that negativity is a choice and we can improve our outlook on life with a few simple changes.

How has it developed since then: Today, Positive Thinking Day is a time for people around the world to change their habits and think more positively, whether that’s taking up meditation, having some “me” time, or doing something they enjoy. On this day, people have one goal – to always think positively!

THREE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT POSITIVE THINKING DAY

1) Improving Heart Health: Positive thinking has been proven to improve heart health by reducing overall stress. For example, people with a family history of heart disease who also had a positive outlook on life were a third less likely to have a heart attack than people who had a more negative outlook.

2) Negative Thoughts Can Harm: Regular negative emotions and thoughts, such as stress and anger, can have an impact on our physical health. For example, studies have found that negative thinking can cause symptoms such as anxiety attacks, chest pain, and fatigue. It can also be a trigger for substance abuse.

3) You Are Responsible: Many people think that their thoughts and emotions are uncontrollable, but that’s not true. With regular practice, you can completely change your outlook on life and feel better about it. Start with saying or writing positive affirmations every day and you will be surprised at the difference.

Interested in helping your community? We need a few volunteers

1) Ballot Counters for the Annual meeting on September 15. Need 3 – 4 volunteers to count ballots starting at 5 p.m.

2) Ditch and Drainage Committee – A new committee is being formed to review and assess our drainage and ditch systems within the community. The committee will report back to the board on a quarterly basis. As a resident, you have a better view of how our maintenance services are doing. We want to hear from you.

If you are interested, please contact Ron McBaen at Star Hospitality Management at 941 575-6764 or r.macbaen@ starhospitalitymanagement.com or reach out to one of our board members.

Little Free Book Library in Our Neighborhood

Have you ever wondered what to do with the books you’ve read? A Little Free Library is a neighborhood book exchange where everyone’s invited to take a book or leave a book. At the August board meeting we agreed to place a Little Free Book Library in the Meadows. One of our board members has offered to build the book box for us. Look for the box in the coming days. It will be placed near the newly installed Community Bulletin Board.

Please limit your words to between 200 to 600 words and feel free to include a couple of jpeg photos with high resolution. We’ll be happy to give you a byline!

Being a Good Pet Owner and Neighbor!

REMINDER

Being a good neighbor and animal owner means picking up after your dog. Also, while our deed restrictions do not specifically state your animal must be leashed, it does state the animal must always be under the owner’s control. Not having the animal leashed could constitute a nuisance and that is a violation of our deed restrictions.

Tell us about your pet(s)! We would like to feature one family’s pet(s) in an article in the Connection. All you need to do is write between 200 – 600 words about your much-loved dog, cat, or other animal and include a couple of high resolution pictures. Some ideas to show off your beloved pet include – how you named him/her; a description of his/her looks; favorite activities and toys; what makes him/her special to you, or whatever else you’d like to share with readers. This is limited to Burnt Store Meadows owners and residents.

Your submission doesn’t have to be a literary masterpiece; we will edit and format it for the monthly newsletter. Have fun writing about your pet and send to joyce.tilden.bsmpoa@gmail.com for submission in the Meadows Connection.
