Fleece Tie Blankets
One of the priorities at the ULC is inspiring service among our students. We try to provide several opportunities each semester for service in our community.
Each fall we make fleece tie blankets to donate to the local Department of Social Services for foster children. It gives students a brain break and local children a warm and comforting blanket in the midst of change.
Annually we pack food items with the Brookings Backpack Project, making sure that children in our community have food security on the weekends.
Lutheran World
Semi Loading
This is the fourth consecutive year that we have offered our youthful strength to load the Lutheran World Relief semi with donations from the Medary Conference. The Women of the ELCA (WELCA) from area congregations drop off their donations at First Lutheran Church where we unload pounds and pounds of boxes. Then when the semi arrives we load all the boxes into the semi. We are thankful for this partnership we have with the local WELCA groups!
These service projects provide opportunities for service and fellowship among our students. We also hope that they instill in our students a desire for continued service beyond their college experience.
