Stewart of Appin Hunting Tartan Tartan Finder | Scottish kilt What is Clan Stewart? Extended family Stewart is a Scottish Highland and Lowland clan. The extended family is recognised by using the court of the Lord Lyon; however, it no longer has a clan leader regarded through the Lord Lyon King of hands. A Brief History of Clan Stewart Clan Stewart is an armigerous clan that means that they have no recognised clan leader. It was from Walter’s role as excessive Steward of Scotland, that extended family Stewart got their call, with steward becoming Stewart.
