Contact us to set up a meeting with your management team to discuss your specific requirements and identify skills gaps. If possible we will take a tour of your site to enable us to select the units of learning tailored to the needs of your business.
At our initial meeting we will:
Outline the Apprenticeship programme
Discuss visit frequency and duration
Suggest employee study time during working hours (for maximum benefit)
Discuss the benefits of the chosen Apprenticeship Pathway
Explain information required and the sign up process
Explain external stakeholder requirements
Initial employee interaction to discuss apprenticeship programmes can be conducted in canteens, rest areas or on a one to one basis An NFDT Training Advisor will happily meet and greet, explain who we are and discuss the apprenticeship journey, pathways, benefits of the programme and answer any questions employees may have
Each learner is appointed a dedicated NFDT Training Advisor
The advisor draws up an Individual Training Learning Plan detailing the units to be taken
This plan is agreed by the learner, employer and training advisor
Visit dates and progress reviews to map learning are also agreed
The Plan will also detail any tasks to be completed for the next visit and feedback that either party wishes to convey
The training advisor will give each learner contact details for future information and guidance
Courses are broken down into individual units
A small number cover areas such as food safety
A larger number of optional units cover cover more specialised skills and knowledge
We use a Blended Learning approach suited to workplace learning on an individual basis or in groups as required
The Training Advisor visits the learner regularly to support, advise, guide and facilitate workshops and one to one learning and development
All visits are conducted within the workplace so there is no need to release staff to college
Assessment is conducted through a series of theoretical and practical assessments or tasks and projects defined by a set of standards developed by the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink (NSAFD) Ltd (Sector Skills Council)
Methods of assessment can include: observation
discussion personal statements projects, testimonies supporting documentation multiple choice questions end point assessment

“It has been very worthwhile for us to put our staff through their training Not only does it enhance their skills, but it is great to see our people progressing and being proud of what they have achieved The training took place on site so they were able to learn within their own working environment and that’s so much more beneficial that purely classroom-based learning This qualification was fully funded ad we are very grateful for their support as well as that of NFDT who provided the Training.”
