Summer celebrations ONCE AGAIN, there’s a lot going on in Loughton this summer to entertain the whole family, so if you’re having a staycation this year, why not make the most of what the town has to offer. This year’s community fun day, organised by Loughton town council in partnership with local churches, will unfold on Jessel Green on Sunday 19 July from 11am – 4pm. There
will be plenty of entertainment for all ages including zorbing and bouncy castles, face painting and, new this year, a display from the Epping Forest Hawk & Owl Sanctuary. The day includes the “It’s A Knockout” tournament, back by popular demand, so start organising your teams for this challenging fun course with various games and heats. The highlight will be the grand finale and prize giving ceremony in the
afternoon. Past winners were in 2014 Jessie’s Giants and in 2013 the Flower Boys’, a team from the Cottage Loaf pub. Don’t miss out on the fun and frolics to see who the ultimate “It’s A Knockout” champions are this year! Contact the town council on 020 8508 4200 to book your place.
Magna Carta 800
WE’RE PROUD to be supporting the national celebrations of this important event, the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta, the document that laid the foundations for the rights and representation that we enjoy today. Residents are encouraged to take a moment to celebrate, debate and reflect on those rights which we very often take for granted but which people throughout history have campaigned to make happen or fought to preserve. Suggested LiberTeas events can include a picnic on one of the lovely greens in Loughton, a Sunday lunch, a debate, a street party, an open day and a historical walk. Alternatively, join us on Sunday 14 June in The Broadway from 3pm – 5pm for a mini Debden Day. Harlow Brass Band will provide the entertainment and, following the opening ceremony, there will be a cream tea for our senior citizens and bouncy castles and face painting for the children.
