Pet advice by Ardmore Veterinary Group FIREWORKS!

Remember remember your pets this November... 50% of the Uk`s dogs (that`s 4 million dogs) have a fear of fireworks, but what people don`t realise is that dogs can be trained to accept and some can be trained to love the stimulus that causes their fear! When pets are fearful certain stress/anxiety behaviors occur - some they carry out through choice such as panting, ears pulled back, tail tucked down, yawning and blinking. Some of their behaviors happen instinctively - such as `out of character` behavior, snarling, trembling, spinning and pacing. There are ways you can help your pet are on the website www.ardmorevets.co.uk go to Pet Advice.

BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS

Please call us if you have any concerns about training or behavioural problems in your pet, such as inappropriate toileting habits, unwanted aggression, hypersexuality, fear related problems such as fireworks or traffic, separation anxiety, excessive barking, or any others. Our vets and nurses can offer advice. Please ask during your routine consultation, or ask to speak to a nurse.

NUTRITION

Proper diet is crucial to a pet’s healthy and happy development and longterm quality of life, and it can often make a critical difference to managing illness. The vets and nurses work as a team to ensure that our patients’ dietary programs are as good as they possibly can be. All our nurses are either fully qualified and listed with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or in training to become so. As such they are fully trained in pet nutrition. They are therefore able to answer any questions you may have, and they do additional training to ensure they are fully up to date with latest thinking and products. If you have any questions about your pets’ feeding, or would like to check that what you are feeding will give your pet the best quality of life, please give one of our nurses a phone call, or book a free nutrition clinic.
