Performance notes:
Wide Horizons (2000)
Wide Horizons was conceived as a brief fanfare to open a concert or to be used for ceremonial purposes. The premiere performance was given by the staff brass of Border Music Camp, conducted by Michael Lichnowsky at Scots School Hall, Albury on 8 July 2000.
Stuart Greenbaum
Performance directions:
This piece was first performed by eight brass players and subsequently expanded for a fuller orchestral brass section of 4331. This should be considered the minimum requirement. More players may be added as desired provided that the piece is balanced accordingly. Ideally, two (or more) horns should be deployed from a balcony or offstage position for bars 28 to the end. Similarly, extra trumpets could also be used offstage for bars 31–33 if available.
