Alexander Levine (b. 1955) was born in Moscow and studied at the Gnessin Academy of Music. In Russia he worked with acclaimed national artists and won prestigious awards from National Radio and Television. In 1992 he moved to the UK, where he now lives. He has collaborated with artists such as The Mariinsky Opera Choir, The Russia State Orchestra “Novaia Rossia”, Maria Freedman, The Tippett Quartet, The Orlando Consort, The BBC Singers, Tenebrae, and The Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee. Edition Peters publishes his largescale works Prayers for Mankind and The Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, as well as Thy Will Be Done, a Russian/ English version of the Lord’s Prayer and Canti Augustini, written for VOCES8.
Alexander Levine (*1955), geboren in Moskau, studierte an der Gnessin-Musikakademie. In Russland wirkte er mit landesweit bekannten Musikern zusammen, und seine Kompositionen für Radio und Fernsehen wurden mit renommierten Preisen ausgezeichnet. Seit 1992 lebt er Großbritannien. Künstlerische Projekte entstanden u.a. mit dem Opernchor des MariinskiTheaters, dem Russischen Staatsorchester „Nowaja Rossija“, mit Maria Freedman, dem Tippett Quartet, dem Orlando Consort, den BBC Singers, Tenebrae und dem Bel Canto Chorus Milwaukee. Im Verlag von Edition Peters erschienen seine großangelegten Werke Prayers for Mankind und The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom sowie Thy Will Be Done (eine russisch-englische Fassung des Vaterunsers) und seine Canti Augustini, die für das Ensemble VOCES8 entstanden.
