Science Gallery Bengaluru with University of Glasgow to launch Post-Graduate Certificate Programme for young Experimentors in 2025
Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) in collaboration with the University of Glasgow (UoG) launches a post-graduate certification in Science Public Engagement for young adults, especially for SGB's Experimentors. Experimentors are trained exhibition experts who drive exhibition experiences, alongside engaging in communication and independent research. The certification will be awarded for science communication and museum education. The Experimentors will be taught by University of Glasgow faculty, while gaining on-ground experience at SGB over the course of one year
Launch date: September 2025
The unique collaboration with UoG seeks to equip young adults interested in science and public engagement with the skills required to work and collaborate with science museums and experience centers globally. Enrolled Experimentors will learn about interdisciplinary education, activity curation, and public engagement in museum and gallery settings relating to science, through seminars, lectures, assignments, and presentations under the guidance of veteran faculty from UoG.
Alongside academic guidance, learners will also spend a year working with the Gallery’s Programmes, Learning, and Communications teams, providing support for various processes behind the scenes for launching and running a science museum exhibition. They will gain invaluable experience in direct science engagement with the public, train under seasoned artists and scientists who put together gallery works, create learning experiences, and perform independent research.
The course will be divided into two semesters, with lectures, readings, and assessments, preparing working students for careers in public engagement, science and health institutions, cultural programmes, charity and volunteer sector, and education. Core courses include Interdisciplinary Learning in Public Spaces, Science in Public Spaces, and Museums, Education and Curriculum Development.

“As a globally engaged institution, international collaboration is central to our mission. India is a major strategic partner for Glasgow, so I am delighted that we are collaborating with the Science Gallery Bengaluru, bringing together our respective talents to jointly create a Post Graduate Certificate in Science Communication. This cutting edge programme offers an opportunity for students to study at a world leading university and simultaneously work in an on-ground public-facing setting at a unique, not-for-profit public Indian institution.” said Moyra Boland, Professor of Creative Pedagogy and Dean for Global Engagement in Central and South Asia at the University of Glasgow.
“Our public spaces need to become sites for continuous learning and meaningful engagement. In the Interdisciplinary Learning in Public Spaces course, learners will have the opportunity to reimagine their ideas around public engagement through Science Gallery Bengaluru's model of an open-ended exploration of science with society,” said Dr Jahnavi Phalkey, Executive Director at the Science Gallery Bengaluru.
Previous exhibition season themes at the Gallery have included Sci560: Science in the City, CARBON, PSYCHE, and more.
