Computing

What is a Computer? An introduction to digital devices, hardware, software and operating systems.

Control and Programming - Students develop an understanding of the key concepts of sequence, iteration and selection using Flowol, Logo and Microbits.

English

Twisted Tales over time - Students study the similarities and differences between texts written over different centuries and cultures.

Writing the world - Students will explore and develop their transactional writing skills through the study of animals in articles; travel writing guides; and documentaries.

Geography

Our Local Area - An introduction to Geography and Map skills, followed by exploring the Geography of the local area of Leyland.

Our Island Home - Students to explore the physical and human features of the British Isles, investigating rivers, coasts and capitals.

History

The Riccall Mystery - How do we carry out Historical Enquiries? Students carry out a mock ‘dig’ and produce a theory of what happened.

Rulers and ruled in Medieval England - Students develop an understanding of power, monarchy and democracy within England.

Introduction to Algebra Calculations and negative numbers Skills covered: Simplifying expressions, substitution, Skills covered: Bar modelling basic calculations, expanding brackets, factorising and solving calculating with negative numbers. equations

What makes a community? Students explore the importance of different communities and how they work together with a faith focus on Sikhism and Christianity Chemistry: Particles and separations

Physics: Energy transfers, fossil fuels, generating electricity.

(Mi tiempo libre y la Navidad) Free time and Christmas Traditions - Students describe what they like to do in their free time. Students explore Christmas traditions in Spanish speaking countries.
